why are they called decks and trucks?

so yeah, wheels are pretty self explanitory since they're wheels, bearings make sense since ball bearings existed before the skateboard, grip tape makes sense since it grips and its like tape but who called the skateboard a "deck" and how in the world did they come up with "trucks"?  anyone?

deck as in something you stand on like the deck of a boat or something to that effect.

Well roller skate trucks were already called trucks before they were used on skateboards. The word "truck" isn't specific to a type of automobile. A truck is any sort of frame with wheels meant to carry a load. Just like there are hand trucks and other various uses of the word.

As for deck, Tuna said it. A deck is simply something you stand on.

Deck refers back to surf boards I'm assuming
which goes back to decks on a boat..

deck because it's sounds so close to the word dick and everyone was calling theyre penis wood before skateboards were invented
