for all you indy lifers, why is that your choice?
« on: April 26, 2009, 11:08:18 AM »
the first pair of trucks i ever had were indys, they were fine, but then they started slipping. after trying just about every other company (kreper exempt), and constantly hearing the acclaim and greatness that is independent, i decided to give it another go. i like how they grind, liked how they turned after swapping out for bones bushings (orange stock broke, and no i don't tighten them that much), and after about six months, they started slipping again. in that time span i could count the number of times i've landed primo on one hand. now im back to venture, where i'll settle for the occasional broken king pin.

any positive feedback for your beloved trucks?

*edit - I'm now riding some stage 10 139s with medium bones, and they've removed all doubt that i originally had. no slipping after three months, and liking everything about them.

ive rode a few different brands but always went back to indys. after six months im ready to switch up a new set anyways. usually by then ive grinded straight through the axle. ive never had any serious problems with them that you dont get with any other truck.

They just skate the best in my opinion. They turn great, grind great, and are pretty damn durable. What else do you need?
And I've only axle slipped one pair that I had maybe about 4 years ago that were given to me slightly used anyways.

Well, I ride Thunders but I hear they come from the same factory with a similar design. My bushings never tear and I never break kingpins. They last me over a year. Nothing to complain about. What other reasons would you have besides them being good?

Because of how easy it was to get new trucks from them when mine broke.

they don't kid when they say guaranteed for life.

i was looking on the indy site for a guarantee return policy . . i didnt see anything. howd you send yours back?

only truck that i can grind to the axel pretty much everytime and it's been that way since the 80s for me. also, i find that other truck metal doesn't grind as fast. i had a pair of those trucks with the beer opener whole on them and they grinded so slow it sucked.

indys just feel better than any other truck. i rode ventures for 6 years and when i got my first set of indys i knew i wasn't going back. i've had 2 sets of thunders, and the turn better than any truck i've every ridden, i just hate that the bushings take way too long to break in. plus, i've never broken a kingpin or bent an axle with indys.

stick with indies I just recently bought some ace trucks and they turned better than indies to me but they were just so thin and weird and first of all they were bent when I got them then they bent more and more while skating them and they looked so odd on my board

I've ridden Indys, Kreepers, Krux, and Thunders and i'm sticking with indys

-best turning radius
-longest lasting
-if your only beef is the bushings... send them in and you get a free upgrade. something along the lines of that, but seriously... Independent most likely wants to help you out
-no silly painting gimmicks
-the weight, size, structure, everything adds to excellent board feel

the real question is why use anything else?

*and if you had problems landing primo... why exactly would you blame that on the trucks? "oh dude, i cant do kickflips because these wheels are oddly shaped"

damn, that new website blows.  there used to be an FAQ at the bottom with the phone number to the warranty dept.  best thing i found was this email address to NHS:  [email protected].

thanks, ill look into that.

just the best. man i remember my first pair of them, which was not even two years ago. i can't believe i didn't try them earlier. its all i'm ever skating. the feel, as soon as you put 'em on, don't even need to tighten them. i can't even complain about the bushings.
raw 139s all day.

Never had them, but I'm really satisfied with my thunders.
If I couldn't get thunders for half the prize I would definitely try indy's.

since the  90's i rocked ventures then about 6 years ago i got tired of breaking them. didnt want to swith to indy because they had their gear in pacific sunwear at the time (shirts). plus they were heavy back in the day. but i went for it. now theyre lighter and ventures. and they grind and turn better.

i saw my grandma bail off a 4 set once in my house and she even got up and came to red lobster after.

I just like the way they turn and grind....I recently found a near mint pair of Stage 5's from the 90's and just updated the baseplates and kept the hangers with some bones bushings....they are perfect.

because indy's are the shit

after awhile, the hanger on krux starts to bend and the axel slips
forces grind like shit
thunders turned regular
and ventures don't grind or turn.

think about it, they're up to 9 drafts on perfecting the truck, 10 if you count the forged indy's.  the metal's good, the design is good, and the truck just looks good.  that's all there needs to be said

cause they roll straight, grind good, and are skateable the same day you get them with minimal effort fucking with the bushings. i had a hate on for them like 5 years ago when i killed tight trucks cause i'd break kingpins every other day. went back to them like 2 or 3 years ago and have had like 6 pairs in a row without a single kingpin breaking.
