I suggest you download the free program Blender and build your own video games.

also, the ps3 is harder to develop for and most of the time gets buggier/inferior ports of multi-platform games.

that is true but it's why PS3 will eventually stomp XBox from the perfomance side of things. mircosoft has great dev tools and all that but really it's the game enginees that matter and the reason that PS3 game enginees were difficult is because the architecture is brand new and the game geeks haven't figured out how to maximizes it's power yet. eventually they will, i'd assume that they already did with the last unreal engine but if not then they will and then it'll stop being a contest on the power front.

Sleazy, you sound like a used car salesman trying to sell a sports car to the dude who just wants to go point a to b.

well i did quite a bit of research before i brought my system and why not share

and i'm not pushing PS3 over xbox, it's really just preference but i did want to clear up the "pretty much the same" arguement because they definitely aren't.

I don't want to turn this into a fanboy fight, but i'll go ahead...

so, the ps3 will eventually stomp the xbox because it has almost no loyal developers and it basically sucks for making games on? People say buy the console for exclusive games, but the xbox is even better for games like call of duty, because they are actually designed for the xbox, then ported to the ps3, which makes the ps3 versions buggier and shittier. And it has waaaaay more exclusives.

Bluray games don't mean jack shit. So far not a single company has made a game that couldn't fit on a regular dvd which is what is used in the xbox.

AND, saying that more processors = better is really misguided. The processors of both systems operate better in certain conditions, and overall the ps3 clocks in just slightly higher than the 360.

In terms of graphics cards, the xbox 360 and the ps3 are very similar.

Online, go xbox.

Xbox hardware problems are fixed. I don't know why this is still part of the argument.

I have all 3.

My Wii is currently in the box, I have not touched it in over a year.

My xbox 360 is currently broken, so it's collecting dust.  I love the 360 and will buy a new one when I get back to the states.  This one has been fixed several times and the warranty is voided so I'm just gonna get a new one.

PS3 is fun, but most games are multi platform anyway, except for a few exclusives.

I like the 360 controller better, the PS controller seems flimsy and the analog positions seem awkward, but i'm getting more used to it.

Verdict:  360 is cheaper and more people play it.  Get a 360.

HOWEVER:  When MAG comes out it will be only on PS3, and it looks great.

I'd go for a 360.

if you're broke just get emulators and rom packs for your computer, and a usb controller.  beat every game you played as a kid.  by the time you do, there will be a new system out

X-box 360 gets the 3 rings of death: they actually have a whole system to let people know their system hardware has failed, complete with lights installed for this purpose only. I have known WAY too many people who have gotten them to trust that shit.

time will prove my argument. you will see a new MS console before you see a new PS3 because the preformance difference will be come so extreme with time that XBox games won't be able to compete.

360 is shit.
PS3 is built tough.
And plus they have tons of games now that will def keep you occupied.
And free online!!!

But if you want a 360
- you got to pay to play online
- And they break easily.

I think this was more a problem with the first run of em. I've had mine for about a year and a half with no problems at all.

maybe, but my downstairs neighbors is broke right now though and it's microsoft. let's face it, these fools never release anything that's properly tested or that's stable. they release stuff that works well when it works but stability and quality have never been their strong points.

and i program on MS platforms for a living, so i'm definitely not a MS hater, infact the only other forum i activitly chat on is for a MS technology that my whole livelyhood is dependent on. i just know how they do business. they test their products on users and then release multiple versions. an arguably ok thing to do when you can simply download updates but when it comes to hardware, i think it should be unacceptable. but they are microsoft and they can release a shit quality product and still get dominate market presence, so they will keep doing it.

You don't know what you are talking about if you honestly think a ported game will perform the same as the original. Large developers want to save time and money, and aren't very thorough when porting the games, which leads to bugs. Most games are developed for 360, then ported. This means, more bugs for the ps3. It's really not that difficult to understand.

if the skate games are a big enough issue, i'd go with the 360. i know the og skate runs way better on a 360 (don't try to convince me otherwise, i've played both and can't stand the framerate on the ps3). you may have to pay for online, but there are way more people actually playing and most of them use the headset. your 360 will probably get a red ring of death, but if you're nerdy enough, you can learn to fix it. it happened to me and a friend around the same time, and i was able to get both working in about 1 hour and 1 trip to lowes. best part is, you can make some money if someone you know gets the rrod. one hour and 40 bucks usually sucks less than 2 months.

It's not particularly that they're really glitchy on the PS3, they're just not as smooth as the 360 version.

The Orange Box springs to mind.

I think that was ported by EA though.
