Rules and Reg. on using music in skate videos.
« on: June 30, 2009, 12:08:09 AM »
What are the laws/rules and regulations on using an artists song in a skate video? do u have to buy the rights to use a song only if you're gunna sell the video? or do you have to buy the rights regardless?

This is something i've been wondering for a long time now cuz i'm not trying to get sued for money i dont have.

I don't think you need rights if the video's free.

the most that would happen is a cease and desist, unless its a big video like a transworld one or something.

for the most part if you arent making money for it or you make under a certain number of copies, shit dont matter son!
for example im pretty sure digital never got rights for their music so they would make like 100 less copies of what the maximum amount you can make was, pretty smart...
