I have to say this, a illusion flip in a line looks tight no matter how unpopular they are.

Only if filmed between years 1995-2001.

Whenever I see one committed to film I think "Did no-one there have the heart to tell 'em the board didn't flip?!"

i've got a buddy who has been doing them for years, insisting that they're hardflips. Everyone we skate with has gotten over trying to tell him that his board isn't flippping. Its funny though, when he plays skate against some young kid and pulls one out and the kid says "dude, that's a pressure flip or illusion flip, shit didn't flip." Dude gets all pissy and spouts off about kids not knowing anything these days. hahah, good call

All depends on how well its done. Over the right feature and with enough style, can't see what's wrong with 'em...

Just different ain't it?

switch 0:39
the mother of all illusion flips: 1:50
also, the line at 1:04 is fucking sick.

And taking it back,

the line at 1:01, Cairo gives you the full run down.

I remember him saying in an interview that he stopped doing nollie hardflips because people gave him shit for them. I say whatever. He could do them over bike racks off flat. That's sick.
i saw my grandma bail off a 4 set once in my house and she even got up and came to red lobster after.

i love when people tell me my hardflips dont count (the proper way) and insist that the "illusion flip" is the proper way to do them. there are a lot of old, bitter kooks who are trying to get back into skating these days. but especially back in like 2002, i was actually one of the first people to do them that way during the "comeback" and people talked shit on how it was a "fs varial flip" or some shit, and how the other way was way more proper. i remember doing one and seeing bryan herman doign one in an emerica ad like right after, he was definitly the first pro to bring that back.

i think steve olson used to do them right though back in like 94 if you REALLY want to get technical. actually im pretty sure daewon's love child ender was proper hardflip too (aside from a little crop dust). so that is how they were originally meant to be.

kris markovich had a really nice illusion flip on the element video i believe... 3rd eye view... new mexico hip. i wonder if that spot is sitll there...

gub!!

I did hardflips and frontside flips properly flipped in 1995.

I think it was mostly switch when the illusion thing started with people. I'll admit I was guilty of illusion nollie backside flips and the occasional illusion switch frontside flip. But regular there is really no excuse. It's not that difficult to properly flip the board.
Can you sign my board?

Slow-mo'ing your illusion flip footage only proves that your front foot really isn't doing shit.
