not so long ago a set up like that would have just been called a "skateboard".

for my money to qualify as a cruiser you need to be running under 90a wheels.

Yeah, the Bullets are actually 92A / 63mm, so they feel a little more cruiser-ish.
I can't believe we used to run setups like this back in the day.
I'm definitely glad skateboards have progressed as much as they have over the past 20yrs...

Thing is, skateboard shapes changed and changed... until 1993. They have been the same ever since, which is weird.

Conventional wisdom says that they've found the optimal shape, yet I am open to new ones and sometimes I wonder why no one (RODNEY) has stepped up and tried to introduce a little innovation back into board shapes. They are more into experimenting with gimmick materials these days, and skaters are not feeling it.

This is the kind of thing I come into this part of the forum for.

Love it.

I just picked up a Stereo deck with 169s, 60mm OJs, and reds to cruise to work on.

Thinking about trying a fancy grip-job, not sure if I'm that confident in my skills though haha.

I have gathered, from trying fancy grip jobs and watching other peoples fancy grip jobs and then comparing them to Randozzi's fancy grip jobs, that it is paramount to make the lines thin enough. Lines meaning the spaces between griptape pieces. Think fine tip vs felt tip.

sooooooooo sick. i had that deck growing up. i love it when people skate "vintage," "valuable," "collectable" skateboards... you should take pics of it getting destroyed every couple sessions, then post them on skull and bones to make the ebayers cry.

Yeah, I actually bought the board with the intention of displaying it.
But within 15 minutes of getting it in the mail, it was gripped and set-up. haha...

I just came to a realization that I would have way more fun skating it then looking at it on my wall.
The shape is just too dope not to ride...

Are you trying to imply that is an OG Blind Lee? ? I don't think so.

Yeah, I found them on ebay for only 23 bucks...
The guy selling them had them attached to these ridiculous gigantic off-road wheels.
I'm guessing that's why they sold so low...

They were pretty grimy when they came in the mail, but they cleaned up nice...
Indy's with the 6-hole or OG 4-hole pattern are hard to come across cheap nowadays.

I kinda feel like a tool for asking this, but...is there a legitimate way to clean your griptape?

I ask in here because, not too long ago, I was going to be late to an exam, and the only way I could make it is if I rode my Zig Zagger, which sounds badass had it not been raining for the last three days. So now my grip is all caked with dirt and shit, and I've long since had to exchange the bearings. So...yeah.

Seems legit. I'll test it on an old broken board before I try it, but it looks promising.

Thanks!

that won't work if it's really caked on...us a wire brush. or an old toothbrush. or go to home depot and ask for belt sander cleaning gum.

I use grip gum to take any light dust, dirt, etc off. If anything like mud or gum gets on my grip, the grip gum won't work. Old toothbrushes work well on mud, tar, etc.

I've used a wet toothbrush. If it's just loose dirt and dust, a vacuum works wonders.

I'm assuming that's carpet. Is it hard to stay on the board?

yeah its carpet but its not hard to stay on.  for the most part it skates like any other board.  just like if you tried to slide on your carpet with sneakers on, its pretty grippy.  it certainly doesn't hurt that i've got brand new vans on.  its pretty fun and its super comforatable to ride on.  the doormat is quite thick and plush.
