Artsy mini cruiser

Ghetto banged up metal skateboard (nose/tail bends if you land on it too hard)

I remember going out skating with a dude in high school who had a metal board. At the time, I thought it was a foray into new skateboarding technology, but the tail also bent down to the ground from him doing a 180 on a five stair.

looked through this thread today while i was at work and now i really want a cruiser. probably going to stop by the shop tomorrow and check out what theyve got. i really like these two heroin decks and the slave rat racer. ive got to get something between 7.625 and 7.88 because the only spare trucks i have are some 7.75 ventures and i really dont want to blow a bunch of money on a cruiser set up.

splurged on the street creep christmas complete. its a 7.75. pretty awesome shape, the big square tail is really sick.

rest of the setup is:
58mm 80hd spitfires
super reds
krux k4 hi's. (never tried krux and got them because they were pretty cheep. im really impressed so far. it took maybe once up and down the block to break them in)

this is also the first time ive tried a custom grip job. it turned out ok, but i have a new respect for anyone who cuts any kind of intricate details in their grip.

i got to skate it for a few hours today and ive had more fun with it than i have skating in a long time. theres this little hill by my girlfriends house that ive bombed before on my regular board and the ground is so shitty that you barely get any speed riding down. i took the cruiser down it today and was honestly a little scared when i first started rolling down. its so fast and smooth. anyone who knocks cruisers needs to give one a try for a few hours. so much fun! sorry for the long stupid post, but im so psyched on this board. i havent had this much fun skating in a long time.

This one of those cork tops, 65 mm Zip Zinger wheels. Why on earth I got Indys for this, while I normally skate Thunders, is beyond me.

whats the deal with the cork tops? are you supposed to grip them, or skate them ungripped? i can see that having the cork top might absorb some of the shock and rumbling from shitty ground and make the board feel smoother. how do they skate?

I skate mine ungripped. You can grip it too but I think the point is it being easy on the shoes. Before I got those big 65 mm wheels and huge risers, I had 55mm wheels and you could actually "skate" it more, do little ollies and stuff. But even then, I didn't really trust the cork to grip on ollies, so ollieing on curbs was slightly interesting. But now with these colossal wheels, I don't have to worry about ollies cause they're impossible. Now this is strictly for cruising to work, store etc.

Looks good. Question 4 yall: How do you keep your rails screwed in? I bought some pig rails and the screws keep falling out. Use glue?

do you guys with rails do boardslides with them, or are they just more of an accessory? im thinking about putting these creature ones on mine. theres a few ledges not too far off my route to work and i thought it might be fun to slap some rails on there and do a few boardslides on the way home. it also seems like id have to put them pretty far in for the bottom of the board to not hit.

Because any truck other than indy's are sub par, and a waste of money.

Haven't had a proper cruiser in a long time, so I'm pretty stoked that I was able to get the deck for cheap and frankenstein the rest of the setup.

Magenta cruiser with the indy 109's spitfire 58mm 80hds and a mix of bearings. Pretty fun ride with really small trucks.

Preduce SBTG Cruiser - 7.5 x 30
Ace High 22's (7.5)
Preduce SBTG Cruiser Wheels 58mm 80duro
Bones Swiss L2's
Broken-in Soft Indy Barrel Bushings + Indy Pivot Cups
5/16 Soft Risers
Shorty's 1/4 Allen Head Hardware
Mob Grip

Really digging this cruiser so far... First time on a set of Ace's. I really like the way they turn, just couldn't stand the stock bushings they came with. They felt a bit too stiff, so I swapped em out for some broken-in Indy barrel bushings. Also, one of the pivot cups came split, so I had to swap those out as well. But yeah, the soft wheel / soft riser combo feels awesome. Charging through oatmeal asphalt feels like riding on glass...
