Sick one. Just got that same Carroll board as a cruiser set up too. Can't wait to skate it.
[close]
How are you liking this board? Does the tail seem short to you? I've hardly skated it yet, but the first time I tried to ollie on it I ate shit going super fast over a manhole because the tail was shorter than I expected, and I didn't even pop.
[close]

Now that you mention it the tail looks really short. Thought it was just the photo's perspective on first glance.
[close]

I've stepped on it at FTC, it's short as hell
[close]
After skating it for a little longer, it turns out it's pretty much impossible to do a good ollie. I might try to drill some new holes a little bit closer to the middle, hopefully I don't fuck it up too bad.
[close]

Yeah that tail is mad short. The more I've skated it though the more I've gotten a little more used to it.

I have this Koston deck from that series and the tail is ridiculously short. The edge of the baseplate isnt flush with the board. It hangs like .25 onto the tail. I tried to get used to it, but was impossible. I don't even want to use it as a cruiser board.

Is there such a thing as metal rails instead of plastic? I kind of want it to feel like I'm doing a grind when I boardslide.

Fresh phatty

Welcome slappy slap
New 169's
Old mandersons 56mm
Assorted bearings
Risers
Bones medium with bottom washer to keep stock height/geometry

Not really a cruiser but I figured I'd show it here with the shaped boards and whatnot.  The shape is beautiful and apparently based on an early 90's Blind/Gonz board.

Thing's fucking fun

Love this. The shape of it reminds me of this board, now that you mention it:

Nah I don't think it fucks it up.  It just make the hanger sit in the pivot cup at a lower angle than originally intended.  Most people who use bones forgo the bottom washer and love it.  I just prefer the height of the added few mm and I feel like it turns quicker and deeper at the stock height.

Oh and thanks for the love yall

Would anyone else want a set if I can get it working? I'm ordering the metal and it's a 20 dollar shipping fee for 3 dollars worth of aluminum (they have other metals, but I've drilled through aluminum before no problem (actually I've drilled through most of the metals on there no problem cept for steel, just figured aluminum would maybe work))

Just set up a new Curb Cruiser

Transportation Unit "Bar Days" 8.5
Indy 149s
Spitfire 56mm Soft Ds
Modus Allen Bolts
MOB grip

Got rails for it, but I laid em on the board, and I dunno...It just didn't feel right.

They're a small, local company out of SoCal run by Russ Pope. They seem to have developed a regional cult following out there amongst the 30+, #curbcrushers, slappy Sunday set. Awesome shapes, with really Unique graphics. Russ hand paints and cuts most of his prototypes with Paul at PS Stix, who then presses up the batch. There was enough snow melt over the weekend that I was able to get out for a low-key cruise last night. Shape/wheelbase felt great.

RAD!!! Looks fuckin great! The Slappy Slap has been a "get me wet" shape for sometime now.
Not as a cruiser, but as a main board. Love 1991 shapes!
1991 was the year of the 4 wheeled magic that bloomed skateboarding to be what it is today!

Alright, choosing between two cruiser wheels, what durometer should I go with?

spitfire soft D's are 92a and there are these autobahns that are 90a.  I've tried 90a rat bones and I like the durometer but the wheel was 60mm which I could not handle.

The 56mm soft D's I'm running on that setup I just posted aNd they Seem great out the box.  Sounds sorta nutty but I think if they were 90a and 57/58mm they might be my perfect cruiser wheel. I know that's a difference of 2a and 1mm; I'm a picky motherfucker about stupid particulars like this when it comes to my setups.  But I would definitely recommend them regardless...

for me size doesn't play a huge factor like durometer does.  I personally hate skating big wheels because pushing is a hassle.

I have these on my bar board, because the last thing I want to do is hit a rock and die. They're so fun though, super bouncy, pretty much silent and haul ass. I have the 58 neon green ones.

I have the same ones. You can pretty much ride on gravel with them. 58s are a little big for tricks, and I've popped one of them off the core doing curb stalls, but it slid back on. Perfect for cruising, but if you want to be able to do all your flip tricks or even simple ledge tricks, I'd go with something smaller and maybe around the 90a range.

What do you think about the 169s for this shape, I picked up the Krampus on the same shape yesterday, and set it up with my 159s and then it rained, so I havent gotten to really ride it much, the little I did get to it felt like when you set up a 8.88 with 149s (a bit tippy with alot of leverage)  not awful just not a feeling that I enjoy. I get that its not really that big of a difference, and that its all in my head. I just really dont like kicking the axle when I push and i wanted to know if the 169 axles stick out at all bc eventhough its listed as a 9.5 board the tapper is pretty strong and the space at either of the axles is not even close to 9.5.
