Hardflip Help?
« on: September 28, 2009, 05:05:44 PM »
Iv been trying these for a while now,the only problem im having is keeping it under me and getting my back foot on. I pop, flick and jump back but the board will just shoot out to the left of me while my front foot dangles there trying to catch it, and my back foot goes nowhere. Im doing these the fs flip looking way btw, idk if that changes anything.

Iv got kickflps and really good front shuvs so that's not the problem.

Id be stoked to add this one to my bag of tricks so any tips are welcome :-\

i just put my front foot on an angle like pointing towards the nose then just aim for the front left corner while doing a fs shove. (kick it hard but not too hard)

to get your back foot back on - instead of thinking so much front shove, try and push the backfoot out at a diagonal (upfront to the left if youre regular, upfront to the right if youre goofy). i put my backfoot in the bottom left pocket (regular). because the kickflip (frontfoot) motion is a little out and then behind you, this backfoot motion balances out any side to side motion.

whether you think it will help or not is arbitrary. the difference between getting a trick or not is in how you think about it. your opinion is merely your difference in thinking. if you want to give an alternative opinion that gives someone having difficulty with a hardflip some help, have at it. saying to do a front shove is fine, but that goes without saying, because a hardflip is a front shove and a kickflip.

Yeah the whole "do it like a front shuv" things been working, there starting to stay under me now. I just need to stop being such a pussy and chicken footing with my back foot.

you might want to consider the fact that you weren't meant to do regular hardflips. i've accepted that i have jon west/donny barley syndrome and can only do them switch. i landed one a few months ago after an eight month spree of not landing them, and that was after a two year spree of not landing them

use that back foot to pop pretty damn hard and just get your front foot out of the way, like flick right to the side. i don't think of them as a front shuv at all, or a kickflip.
