Motorcycles
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:49:30 PM »
I've noticed there are a bunch of people into motorcycles on here but no motorcycle thread.  Post pics of of your rides, good motorcyle blogs/websites, pics of some sweet cycles, tales/plans of epic rides etc.  I currently don't have a motorcycle, but am starting to save and will hopefully have enough once the weather gets warmer, I have my eyes set on either a triumph boneville or daytona preferably from the years 73-79. Anyways here are some good blogs i occasionally check.

http://4qconditioning.blogspot.com- im sure everyone knows this one

http://www.czombieblog.com/- another motorcycle blog run by skaters

http://vise22-satanscrate.blogspot.com/- this one is mostly in japanese but still has some sick content.

I've posted this pic before, but it's the best I have.  This is me and Bad Motorscooter.  She's a 2001 Triumph Bonneville T-100 Centennial Edition.  Painted Lucifer Orange and Gun Metal.  She's totally stock.

I had my eye on the brand new Norton Commando 961 SS, but it looks like it will go for about 17k, which is WAY to much for me.  So I will wait it out.  She's a pretty one too.

god help us...

the DL rides an '81 harley sportster and an '85 honda rebel.  the sportster is some pretty scary shit and is a work in progress.  the rebel was a work commuter that is fun to beat on.  if anyone wants to learn, find a friend who has a 250 size cruiser and learn on that.  light shit that you won't murder yourself on too hard.  this rebel is pretty much indestructable.  the tank is all beaten from drunk college kids tipping it over in my parking lot.  the sportster will get sold as soon as i find a BMW r90.  that triumph is fucking sick hate.

[close]

i've been wanting to get a bike but i live in LA and don't necessarily want to die.  if it weren't for other drivers, and shitty roads it might be more doable.   when i see bikes cruising through the middle of traffic it does make my morning commute seem more appealing

nice bike HATE.  that's pretty much my 1st choice for what i'd want to get (except in black)

You sir, have good taste.

Thinking of buying one of these

A pal of mine is selling 2. He also has one of these which I also fancy..

Greeves scottish trials, proper vintage trials bike and at £1400, is the cheaper option, but will need making road legal, lights and such.

Damn kinky john.  You also have good taste!

I've been into bikes forever.  My first vehicular accident was on a motorcycle.  I was 4 and riding on the gas tank of my dad's bike on some fire trails in the california hills and lost it in some loose dirt.  I don't give a shit about going fast, I am all about style, and cafe racers are where it is at!  BSA, Triumphs, Nortons.... motherfucking BRITISH STEEL!  actually the other day I found this dope Royal Enfield painted flat olive green.  So stylish.  Tried to talk the dude into letting it go and I was wasted, but no luck.

i love BSA's... but parts for the classic british bikes are freaking expensive...

hate, is flat olive green the same colour as british racing green... if so that is a mighty fine colour

Virtually every bike here is a crotch rocket with a few harleys scattered throughout.  They just aren't my style at all, and I don't care about going that fast.  Also-- I like the british bikes because they are kinda unique, not many people have them, especially where I live.

This is my roommates bike

Ducati Hypermotard

Not really my style, but he is able to go fast and sit upright which he has to because he broke his back a year ago and can't lean that far over anymore
where i live now, there's a kid kicking around on that same ducati.  i almost too him out a few weeks ago when he ran a 4way stop sign.

exactly why i'm not into them

i saw the immediate after math of a wreck on campus where a guy was just riding his bike through campus and some other guys turned without looking and hit him and the guy was lying there in the middle of the street dead when i came up. if he was in a car he would have walked away from it, infact the guys that hit him fled the scene.

but i don't want to shit on this thread, really sick bikes in here. i just don't have the balls for it.

I watched a guy totally wreck his crotch rocket and eat shit directly in front of me I was so close i got hit with shrapnel from his bike, but it was completely his fault.  Around here guys that drive the type of bikes bobbito posted are always meathead guidos who don't know what the fuck they are doing, so i've learned to resent sport bikes and on top that i think they look like shit.

i have never had a desire to drive. cars always seemed lame and not much of a necessity in a city. but motorcycles im down for. once im out of school and have some disposable income i would much rather get a motorbike then some run of the mill car. these 2 bad boys are beauties, but im pretty sure i will never own either

I can't change your opinion about the bikes but I can see where you're coming from about the guidos. Not too much of a fan myself, especially since I live in a town crowded with guido bros from NJ and eastern MA, but I always wanted one of these little crotch rockets and I'm a Honda guy haha so I guess those two sorta go hand-in-hand. To be honest, after this thread, I'm liking these Triumphs thought I guess I just never see them around here

it seemed like a bad summer for bikers, either that or the news just covered more bike crash stories. it seemed every other week was a dude getting killed by an SUV pulling out infront of them or crossing their lane.

sport bike dude bit it hard the other day. Left a bar drunk, his friends stopped him down the road and took him and his bike home. he took it out again an hour later.  he ran into the back of a truck whilst going 105mph.  the truck was going the speed limit of 35mph.  they found parts of him all over some ladie's yard.  completely his fault but just a weird way to do it.

riding in LA must be tough for any of you that do it.

about 10 years ago i bought one of these-- a 1975 bmw 60/6, but mine was silver. fausto came with me to check it out when i bought it, and for that reason alone i wish i still had it. it ran so nice, was really fun to ride. i bought it when i lived in the burbs and loved riding it through the hills and the country lanes, but when i moved to SF i felt like i was about to get smashed at every turn, people just didn't see me on it in the city, so i sold it. used the money to buy a 1976 bmw 2002 car, which turned out to be the worst thing i ever bought. paid $2000 for it, a year later i'd put $6000 more into fixing it (including a new engine) over and over, and sold it for $2000. always kinda wished i'd just kept the bike, but probably would have sold it by now anyhow. still love looking at cool bikes, but don't plan on owning another one anytime soon.

yeah, the only drag about bikes is cars.

when i was in college (smallish beach town) i had a Vespa.  not the same as a motorcycle, but almost .  fucking loved it.  completely changed my life.  made driving actually fun.  but even in a mellow town i had a couple of scary near-death episodes of idiots not seeing me.  i sold it before i left that town.

in LA, i don't know.  it's sketchy, but i'm still tempted.  if it weren't for idiot drivers who could kill you
