Dangerous but fun. Sucks these bikes get a bad rep, the people who get the attention of the general public when riding are usually the douche bags. Wheelies in traffic, wearing shorts, flip flops and wife beater...

I thought it might be one of those, but I usually stick to their older classic models.  I ride a Bonneville T100, myself and generally only know about that and the other older British bikes like Nortons and BSA's, but that one is pretty dope!
[close]

I used to live near a Triumph dealer and I just fell in love with the unique sound of the that triple engine.  I just didn't have the funds for one at the time.  The Thruxtons are pretty cool too.

My brother in law just got a regular Bonneville and my Dad is looking at a new Thruxton actually.

Get your dad to look at the Norton's hate, fucking sensational..

So about a year ago my roommate's boss gave him this old Kawasaki 250 LTD. I'm not sure exactly what year it is, but I know it's early 80s. Anyways, it didn't run when my roommate's boss gave it too him, and it's been sitting in our backyard ever since. Now my roommate is moving, and giving to me aka, just leaving it in the backyard when he goes. Anyways, I don't know much about motorcycles aside from that they're totally badass, and how to ride it down the street. Where would you fellas recommend I start in on trying to fix this bad boy? Summer is about here, and if I could be riding by the end of it I'd be hyped.

Empty fuel tank, fill with new fuel, clean carbs, clean/ replace spark plugs, oil change, new battery, try to start it. Start with the small stuff and see if ya can get it running. If it won't start, evaluate how badly you want to ride and how much money you're willing to throw at it to get it safe to ride. Just from a quick look at that pic, there's a whole laundry list of stuff of that needs to be replaced.

I got new bike the other day.
it's a 2004 yamaha sr400. They are great bikes, they’ve barely changed for the 30years or so yamaha has been making them.
i plan to customize it little by little when i get some available funds. If i was really rich i would love to find an old BSA to restore, but i guess for my first bike building project, the yamaha will have to do

The only bikes I really like are vintage, especially pre- WWII, and british bikes. My favourites are the Ariel Square Fours:
http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic_bikes/1934-ariel-square-four.jpg[/img]

They have a pretty unique sound because of the straight cut gears that connect the dual crankshafts together. This guy at a british car show had a 1000cc 1934 model and it was just badass.

Hot-rodding a Norton Commando is on my list of things to do. One day.

I envy all of y'all for owning and riding bikes.

My fancy's:

But I might actually like those with higher handles. And definitely in black. I believe this scene was what first sparked my true interest in motorcycles, but obviously the part when Arnold comes in and fucks shit up.

I totally understand the deathwish thing.... then again, I skateboard, I've deployed a few times in the military to hostile environments, I've jumped out of perfectly fine aircrafts, and I've gone headfirst through a windshield, so maybe I just don't learn my lesson
Heh, my brother did two tours in Iraq, 101st Air Assault, combat ops and convoy security. He skates, too. He also wants a bike really bad.  :D
or maybe its because your fist has to first be purified in the waters of lake minnetonka before it can touch dylons.

I worked at the NY auto expo this spring which is basically all cars and trucks, but these were the only motorcycles there. I don't know much about motorcycles but I thought these looked crazy. I bet they cost a shit ton of money.

Got this bike a few months ago for free. I've been tinkering with it, hopefully it's closer to running.

What up.

took the MSF motorcycle training class over the weekend (passed)  .  been searching bikes pretty hard lately, but waiting for the right one. either one of these would be up my alley though.  definitely dig the honda cb's .   going to look at a 350 this weekend

i love triumphs but don't want to spend that much coin at the time (6 to 8 grand)..     anyhoo..   i'll post my bike when i get it (which should be soon.  as soon as i take the friggin dmv test and find something)
