The problem isn't even on the ISP end, because there will always be an ISP offering "neutral" service, and everyone would switch to them. The problem is when network providers like AT&T want to charge on a content-basis. But I'm arguing over semantics here really, the point should remain - support net neutrality.

I work for a major cable company and High speed internet provider. We have had meetings about the FTC coming down on ISPs when it comes to broadband consumption.  You will soon have to pay for internet like you would cable. sucks.

If it truly gets to that point, I know I'm downright just going to stop using the internet.

We have three tiers of DSL here... ones a bit faster than dial up, one's decent, then there's the "business" level that we have at home... it's pretty regular. It's been regular ever since Internet2 protocols were first established.
If you live in the States and you pay for any sort of internet, you're getting shit for your money. Europe knows how to do it... high speed residential internet is faster and cheaper than it is here.

I blame the free-rape economy.

FREE LEVEL3 FIBER CONNECTION.  How you ask?  Friend works across the street and set up a wireless bridge.  Too bad I move out in 2 weeks and have to go back to either paying for Verizon FiOS or sending nudie pics by messenger pigeon.

i'm confused, if you have to start paying for access to sites and you pay for access to google, then how are you really getting access to google if you can't follow a lot of the results?

I'm bumping this thread because there's been a recent increase in Net Neutrality activism and counter-activism that is truly disturbing. We all know that the media likes to twist things to support certain political agendas both left and right. But the current campaign by Fox News against Net Neutrality is downright lying to the American people. Never in my life have I been this aggravated by the devious, corporatist bullshit of Fox News.

http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/megyn-kelly-gives-nice-demonstration

Please tell me that no one believes the bullshit lie that Net Neutrality = Government Censorship....

I hope everyone who sees this is as angry as I am.

The middle video is the worst... every fucking thing that dumbfuck said about the internet from it's beginnings (which were academic, government, and non-profit) to the completely ass fucking backwards that net neutrality is censorship makes me want to kick his face.

Big problem now: Republicans are very effective marketers. When they want to sell the opposite of the truth, they fucking work that shit. In this case, they're saying that the net as it is right now is censored but using whatever fucking payment model they come up with is freedom. These are the same people that were able to paint an honored Vietnam war vet (John Kerry), a man that had an actual combat kill, and paint him up to be a traitor while making Bush look like a great American hero while he was off-base at his silver spoons Air Guard bumping lines.

Net neutrality aficionados need to refer to it as something else... like "open internet" or anything that makes clear sense and fits nicely on a bumper sticker.

Fuck Foxfucking news and any corpo-tit sucking congressfucks supporting this shit.

Wow, I had no idea this was going on right now, but it sounds crucial. I still don't really understand what started this all. Is it just because some special interest groups realized that they could make a shit ton of money off the internet?

its always about the money in this country, always.
its fucking disgusts me how all these banker politicians are running shit and were in no position to do anything about it.
we need a president that has no ties to anyone.  unfortunately the powers that be(the rich) will prevent that from ever happening.  how is fox news still on the air is beyond me?
