COTG Transition Skating Challenge
« on: December 08, 2009, 04:13:00 PM »
So Child of the Ghetto put out the challenge that in ONE YEAR he could be better than someone at skating transition if he really tried.

I would be willing to bet that if i skated transition for a year i would be better than 90% of the people on slap at that, too.
I honestly want someone to take me up on the challenge that I'll be better than them in a year if i start skating transition.

I decided to take him up on it.  I even offered to learn Nollie Heel Noseslides as well.

You got yourself a deal.  I will try to learn nollie heel noseslides too (I'm not kidding either...I think it's a sick trick, I just think lots of different types of skateboarding are rad).  So December 2010 you have to be able to do at least anything I can do in any transition that I can skate.

After a bit of deliberation...COTG accepted.

How are you only going to be able to have to do nollie heel noseslides, and i would have to do everything. You don't even realize that those are my warm up. I do those damn near every try. You guys really don't have a grasp on how many tricks i have.

Hey...you came up with the challenge pal.  I'm just saying I'm willing.  Plus you do have the advantage of living in Cali.  I won't be skating much at all till around the end of March.

Yea I'm down, i don't care. Anything to show you guys how easy, and lame transition is.

So it's on kids.  It will be a full year in the making.  I'm willing to put money down on this as well if COTG is.  I can only imagine that some of you may wish to do the same.  This should be a fun little contest...and my hopes are that COTG will recognize the fun in and value of transition skating.

Here are a couple videos of me...just to give COTG an idea of what he is up against.  I'm by no means amazing...but I definitely have a few years of experience skating bowls and ramps.  Let the games begin!!

I'm sorry it's impossible. Trying to beat COTG at skating is like trying to beat Chuck Norris in an ass kicking competition.

yes actually Only 50, because even if(when) i do show I'm sick at transition a bunch of people are going to say you're better anyway. I don't care about 50, but 100 is kind of a lot of money to throw down the drain.

Yea, but that's impossible on slap. I'm the only impartial person on here.

Even if that were the case, which it isn't, I'm still starting from basically scratch.

I'll throw in $100 bucks FOR SURE.

I want the judges to be fair and impartial.  We should get some of the Slap Admins to judge it or something at the end.  But that's not till end of next year anyway.  We'll figure that out as we get closer.  But I'm fully prepared to lose this one if COTG can actually pull it off.  Because honestly...for him to do this...he's gonna have to put in some serious time and effort.  And if he does I think he's gonna realize how much fun skating transition is.

So are we gonna make it end December 8th, 2010??  Or should we just make it January 1st, 2011 for good measure?

Oh...and me doing the Nollie Heel Noseslide isn't really related, but I'm not trying to pussy out either.  So you wanna just make that a separate side bet??

cotg, i'll take you to go skate the RVCA ramp in costa mesa this weekend. there, we can do an evaluation of your mini ramp skills and develop a training program that will enable you to reach your goals in no time.

this is the ramp, its outdoor now

Jimmy hopes COTG does his tricks on something bigger than a 4 foot mini transition.  Jimmy saw a frontside rock at Bondi.

I'm down to help judge, and I've got no bias towards J Randall.

Fuck, if COTG gets through the whole year without backing out and is at 80% of J Randall's transition skills I'll be hyped on him. That's no small order. I didn't watch all your footage but the front 5-0 and front rock in the deep end of that blue pool is gnar.

I've skated it before, but i haven't "skated" it. I would just drop in and carve, or mess around on a mini ramp. I literally haven't dropped in in like six months.
