Zoo York "Mixtape" appreciation
« on: January 16, 2010, 04:28:36 PM »
DO NOT WATCH THIS IF YOU'RE INTO CIRCUS TRICKS AND "PROGRESSIVE SKATEBOARDING"
This video has been uploaded to Youtube in much better quality than before even including the dope intro and Zoo tour parts.
I figured anyone who loves 90's skating/Hip-Hop will surely enjoy it.
Highlights include Gangemi destroying rails, Keith Nut rapping about slightly questionable s and one of Harold Hunter's only parts in a skate video

Robbie Gangemi + Busta Rhymes over A Tribe Called Quest beats = bliss. Throw in Roc Raida doing some Turntable trickery and you have made this old man's day.

i think R.B. released em on DVD independently (along with Peep This) cause Zoo York had no desire to do it themselves.

And yes, Peter Bici is handsome as fuck.

robbie gangemi is an animal.  this video and "peep this" are two of my favorites.  i lost my VHS of peep this a while back, but somehow found it online and downloaded it, so it's all good.

Fuck yeah, when Zoo was dope. thanks for posting this shit. Gangemi is an animal. His part in Mixtape is one of my all time favorites. Bummer Vehicle never got off the ground. That shit would of taken over. So is it possible to get Mixtape of Dvd these days? My VHS quit on me back in the late 90's and haven't had a copy since. If not they need to put this shit back out.

(blatant self-promo) :

Any chance to ever see Mixtape released on DVD some day?
Zoo’s lawyers will never let it get re-released. It’s a licensing nightmare. We went out and got all the rappers and skaters and everyone to give us the OK to use them, but then our lawyers were like ‘What about the music everyone is rapping over?’ I mean, we don’t even know what half that stuff is.

Part of the reason why it’s so hard to find Mix Tape 1 is that Zoo is protecting itself from lawsuits. Not that there’s any money to be made off that video. It had ONE VHS run over ten years ago!

If they weren't pussies, they could set up a dummy corp, run the dvd through that then shut it down as soon as it immediately sells out. problem solved.

My VHS copy was perma-borrowed by a homie. I gotta get that back...
i saw my grandma bail off a 4 set once in my house and she even got up and came to red lobster after.

Just got my copy of mix tape back and I am so fucking happy. I lent it to a friend about 4 years ago and never thought I'd see it again.

And that shit makes me want to skate more then any rail jumping zero video or ledge dancing girl/lakai video.
