during the early ninetys what company started the small wheels craze by making the first 53mm wheel sold in packs of 6?
pack of 6 really?
i dont get it.. 53mm isnt small.. and what does selling them in 6 packs have to do with small wheels
back then the general consensus was that buying 53 millimeter wheels was like throwing away your cash.
People thought once your wheels shredded down to 52 it was time for a new pair
Before that time Hosio Rockets were all the rage
sizing in at 60 mm (later shrinking down to 56mm)
also T-Bones were very popular
and these fuckers were a whopping 67mm big!!!
So back then 53 were small and considered "disposable"
along with thinner boards that came out a few years later.
Looking back it amazes me that I was able to get my skateboard off the ground at all
boards back then were H-E-A-V-Y!
