Big Brother Magazine once had an article on the number of grinds it takes to get down to the axle of various brands of trucks.  If I remember correctly, the least was 200ish grinds on Grind Kings.  I think they were doing 50/50's on a curb outside their office.  It was reminded me of the Tootsie Roll Pop commercial about "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop."

[close]

only 200?

i feel like i do thousands on each set and they don't usually get close to the axel before breaking.

if I remember correctly, Grind King is made with a softer aluminum than most trucks, so they wore down significantly faster.

When I skated thunders like 2005 or 2006 I felt like the trucks were soft too.

I was just going thrugh my box full of old crap, and I found this, I even forgot I had it. My first real pair of trucks, I bought it of one dude that did mad crooked grinds all the time, so its not my work, but still, nice one.

What's the shortest time someone on here ever grinded down to the axle? I never did it myself. I'm going to do my best now.

During the winter, skating the mini ramp at my work every night after closing, I got down to the axle of my back truck in 2.5 months strictly from bs 5-0 fakies, fs 5-0s, and our no waxing the coping rule.

Kcdc employee? The no waxing is one of six rules, but the only one not pertaining to birthday parties...

Judging by how the truck looks the guy didn't do a single stand up grind.  Even the photo suggests all he did was slash grinds.

grind kings do not qualify. they are made of shitty aluminum and the axel is really close to the top of the hanger to start with. thunder, indy, venture, and whatever truck that are built like those. thats going all out.

mine were almost there. i was showing about 3 inches of axle, a,d some fucking kook broke into my van and stole my setup. now i have to break in new trucks without the satisfaction of breaking the old ones. first time in over a decade i haven't completely obliterated my trucks.... worst part, i can't transfer the bushings, since some goon now has my setup. it's gonna be a long couple weeks, checking every kid i see's hangars for "be like water."
i'm not the official voice of the park, i'm just a guy who skates and works there...

My buddy Jeff invariably snaps the heelside wheel of his back truck off every set he rides from sitting on his frontside 5-0s perfectly and doing them all the time, wearing a groove into the truck.
example. i cant cast a spelll or love potion on a girl and she falls total in love for me
but i can show a girl my tv youtube clip on my or her phone. but there's a difference ok

It's way gnarlier to do it with 5-0's as opposed to crooked grinds. Also:

I'd love to see this article, or anything similar. Sounds really interesting.

The issue is Big Brother February 2000, pages 62-81.  I believe that would be issue #57.
