Pay per view Berrics. As much as this seems like shit, I bet if they had it for the Battle at the Berrics finals, they would make a little bit of pocket change.

i guess u will have to pay for every single battle ... imagine this and berra will be loved forever by L. Ron H.

its a slippery slope toward rocco-ville
that was funny.

if berra wasn't a member of the church of businessology,i wouldn't be as suspicious.
but this is the most corrupted sect ever,it's almost a fucking bank.
so i honestly can't trust this guy and all his good intentions.

this is wrong.

they should use the view count the video gets and then give them some money based on that (take the money from the united program, the ads all over the place) - more views, more money.

these views also mean more clicks on ads and so on, so they better not be charging shit. ads are there for a reason - we don't want to see them, but we have to, so the content is free

i dont really care if they charge, im not paying either way. but what kind of bums me out is that, now i know the hype is just to make money and that the video part might not be the best in "10" years or so. I still back shane but I was kind of hoping for some legendary shit.

Man....
you guys don't have any clue what really crackin over there....lol.

The 3 bucks generated per download goes to Shane. How can you hate on that?

Let me fill you guys in on a few things you may not know.

The goal of the Berrics is to preserve skateboarding on a ground level. They are in the process of implementing the
software that re directs the Canteen orders to the closest Unified shop to the customer.
So the kid in MI orders from the Berrics Canteen... the order is re directed to the closest shop to the kid. Its drop shipped from THAT
shop... the shop just cuts the Berrics a small percent. That.... is sick.

Some video parts released on the Berrics will be sold... the proceeds go to the skater. First time in history a skater can get paid from
his video part. Obviously it won't take long before crumb snatchers and bootleggers upload them shits on youtube... but at least for
a short time the Pro or Am or whoever can make a buck.

Thats just a couple things... more is in the works.... you guys know im a supporter of the Berrics... maybe you some of yous really think these dudes are trying to rape skateboarding.... but its quite the opposite.

That's a cool concept, but it's a poor substitute for Deluxe Shop Connect. Right now, if the kid in MI orders from The Berrics Canteen, he'll have to drive to Southgate to buy from Anime Skateboards. If he orders something from Deluxe, he has a lot of options to choose from.

I think it's awesome that they're giving the money to Shane, but for more than a dollar, I'll probably wait for youtube.

There should be something more to it. Like maybe have it like the Epicly Later'd DVDs where you have the option to watch all skaters footy online on a couple of DVDs. I just think it is dumb to do it as a download. We still need something tangible. I know we are in a technological era but the demographic they are selling this is to skaters. Last time I checked on this message board alone, we bootleg shit, rip shit and upload shit. I just don't see this flying at all and by the end of it, the skaters themselves will only net pocket change out of this.

I would gladly pay $3 for a "life-changing" video part. All those 101 videos were like 10 min long and I think my shop sold them for around $10, so you paid about $3 for Koston's part in Falling Down. The difference is that I'd feel like a schmuck doing it via some scheme Berra and "Anonymous Content" concocted to generate more money/hype.

you can't really compare, back in 1992 skateboard companies were not exactly sucessfull + there was like what 5 videos a year at max?
anyway almost all of my vhs from 1987 to 1992 are copies.i even have some screeners.i didn't have the cash to buy em,everything was spent for boards and shoes.

http://berricsunified.com/MI/ATS/

This shit is not owned by skaters, the owner was charged with stealing DVD's from a Sam Goody next door to the original shop, 'The Gamestation' which was a place to go get Japanese video games, candy, cartoon porn, and DVD's that aren't for sale yet. I'm just going to bold everything the dude lied about here.

ATS Skateshop was created by the skaters in 1998. Previously carrying video games and Japanese animation, ATS evolved by listening to the skaters and getting the brands that they wanted most. Continuously changing to keep up with Michigan's poor economy, ATS has grabbed new brands each year, recent brands include DVS, Supra, and Fourstar. With over 300 logo decks and over 300 styles of shoes in at all times, skaters from all over Downriver (south of Detroit) travel to ATS to check out our huge selection. New for 2010 is the ATS Skateshop website at www.animetoskateboards.com.

Our goal at ATS is to support the local skate scene. Throwing competitions throughout the year at and around the shop, showing up at local skateparks and throwing out freebies (They charge $7 for Feed the Need and Concrete Jungle), and adding skaters to the team every year are just a few ways that ATS represents. The ATS Skateteam is Mickey Adkins, Nick Balogh, Mike Belfiore (Kid skates like Mike V and does bonless fingerflips like It's a real trick) Mike Codd (http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=33&topic=15421.0) , Brandon Hooper (has snakebites), Shelby Jones, Colin McNabb, Justin Pearson, Ryan Schendel, Jonny Smith, and pro Garold Vallie. If you are anywhere near Detroit, ATS Skateshop is a destination location. Meet up at ATS and head out to the 'Big D' and skate!

Oh, yeah, he skates. ::)

He once told me to my face that he would never hire skateboarders to work at the shop because 'you just can't trust them', and that is a direct quote.

Meanwhile, shops that are struggling to survive that are within 15 miles of GayTS that are skater owned can't afford to pay for this shit. Berra, I thought the Unified Shops were supposed to be core shops?

He once told me to my face that he would never hire skateboarders to work at the shop because 'you just can't trust them', and that is a direct quote.

thats not entirely false.
i know many skateshop employees that give away free shit, give discounts and take product for themselves without considering what they are doing is 100% wrong.  as an employee, you are in fact stealing from the owners pockets each and every time you do this.
its not your place to give away free shit, give discounts or any kind of hook up to your homies, you just work there.  if the owner were to deduct those freebies and discounts from your pay, would you still do it?  hells no.  its up to the owner to decide, its his place, its his money.

the ATS owner still might be a dick i've met tons of shady skaters(people in general) in my time.  and just because you skate doesn't mean you're trustworthy, that would just be naive.  you gotta earn a persons trust, you don't give it away, thats how you get burned.

At one point in time, someone at the shop once told me 'wider boards are harder to break'.

Also, I have nothing really against anyone that rides for the shop, at all. Most are just in it to try and get their foot in the sponsorship world's door, which is all well and good, but when you're trying to make a video with an Adio flow rider and you explicitly state to the owner of the shop to give the footage to Adio but NOT put it online, and two days later you see a minute and a half of usable footage on youtube...
