organizing skate events...

Alright so I'm trying to organize a little King of the Road inspired contest for the shop I work at and I'd like to get some feedback regarding the legality of it. Anything we've done before has been pretty small, un-affiliated with the shop to keep from getting sued. With this one though, Im trying to get some companies involved, and have it be a pretty big deal. Any of you guys every do contests or shit like this? I'm basically trying to avoid lawsuits or anything like that if somebody gets hurt trying to ollie the biggest set in town or whatever. Any advice?

In this case its pretty much kids come to the shop and pick up their "challenge book" on a set day and bring it back with footage the next week. The challenges are a mix of spot specific to our city, and then the usual crazy tricks for points in diff categories. Like I said, any advice/thoughts/feedback on the legality of this type of thing would be awesome, especially if any of you guys own shops and have done this before.
