Search the hashtag #skateshoewars on Instagram. There’s like a whole subculture of dudes buying, selling, and collecting puffy DC, Adio, globe, and sole tech stuff from 12-20 years ago. They’re probably the dudes that campaigned for DC to do this.
I hate those dudes. Even though I've made really good money selling old shoes to them. Seriously so many people who collect nasty ass Circas, Osiris, and the worst DCs. Using that bullshit hastag #makeskateshoespuffyagain. It's pretty obvious with so many of them that they were fucking kooks when they skated in the early 00s and they're still fucking kooks.
Like, look at all your favourite pros who skated those shoes back in the day. NONE of them skate shoes like that anymore. The reason isn't an industry conspiracy to sell slim shoes, it's because those shoes fucking suck to skate in.
Overeacting much?
I look at those dudes the same way there are people that collect retro nike/adidas/reebok,etc... So because a Airmax 1 or a EQT support is not cutting edge anymore does it mean that people need to hate them now?
Those old shoes were good for running back in the day, now are awful, no pro runner runs with them, but people still love them and buy them. (Think of retro jordans aswell)
Those guys feel the same with those bulky ass shoes, the nostalgia they bring, probably from their golden era is enough to appeal to them.
Must of them not even skate those same pairs, just casual wear or collection.
I see nothing wrong with it and I think there's a place for it in the market.
