I definitely wouldn't say those vans are perfect, but you have to appreciate any shoe that is different than other products on the market (in our industry). Ideally our own industry would start taking risks and creating contemporary designs that actually define this era. That's what made late 90s-early 00s shoes dope. It was paneling and language that gave the shoes personal identity, not the primitive over-padded form! I would almost say the last time a skate shoe was truly designed was around 2003. From then till very recently every design looks like it was drawn by a robot.

I agree with this, tho I think the Adidas 3ST shoes are pretty technical, progressive, and not a rehash of old ideas.

I am friends with a guy who still skates Globes like that. I have asked him why in every way you can ask someone. Jokingly, sincerely, accusatory, pleading, all of it. He just says "heh" and off he goes. He has amazing kickflips.

HUF has some good shit. The Dylan colorway in silver looks like it was polished with the TinMan’s ejaculate. There’s a blue Cromer with a black midsole, which is tempting, despite having negative experiences with that model.

Greco one-upped himself in the ugly shoe department with a rubber toe cap on a loafer.

Pretty much. My favorite shoe is the Chukka, the mid top, and the soles seperate from the upper all the time. Fucking sucks. Even the pro's went to shit from just walking in them.

Gotta agree with the comment about Vans quality though - pure junk. I had Crocketts and they were one of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned. I just took the insoles out to use for other shoes.

I like those black on white sole Santos 3.0. Less than 5 years ago I was complaining that there wasn't enough puffy cupsoles on the market. Now, most companies are bringing it back and I can't complain. Thank you vans. I'll try them out sooner or later.

Yeah exactly.  Because Vans has paid them to put them on, pretend that they're stoked on them, and be walking advertisements for them.  We're saying the same thing. 

Who have you seen actually skate in these?  The only person I've seen wear these at all was Justin Henry on an IG post only to have an IG story posted the same day where he's actually skating in the most recent Vans x Quasi collab.

So yes, they are wearing them and posting about wearing them on social media, where they receive money form Vans for wearing shoes Vans wants to advertise.  It's not because the riders actually like the shoes.

These are an old  pair of DC's. I don't know what year. They would sell like hotcakes if DC re-released them in 2019.
