Windbreakers
« on: October 03, 2010, 10:03:10 PM »
Anyone know a good place to buy or order a windbreaker type jacket? I'm not really looking for skate clothing or something flashy, I just want something that'll keep me warm that isn't super bulky.

Windbreakers wont necessarily keep you warm. They are basically just nylon with no insulation or anything. At least, in my experience they are.

I've heard good things about the eS coaches jacket. It a regular windbreaker but has some pretty good insulation lining it.

I'm sure Volcom/Matix has something right up your alley.

As far as ordering goes, some places to check out would be SkateWarehouse, Plusskateshop, Tactics, Libertyboardsupply. Those are my go-to's.

I try not to worry about brands but I just can't make myself wear anything northface, no matter how good their stuff is.
The best fitting most comfy one I've stumbled across is the nike sb coaches jacket.Good fit, comfy and a little more substantial than a cheap coaches jacket.

I know Modell's has had some decent deals on windbreakers lately.
Got this for 23.50 in store. But they have it for 29.00 online. It's kept me warm enough so far in NJ.

Any suggestions on ones with minimal lining or vents? Raining here but the temperature is still in the mid to high 80s.

Is it insulated enough to not need the hoody, and also is it waterproof? I'm looking for a warm raincoat of sorts, but not as bulky as usual winter coats or snow jackets.

the outer is nylon and the inner is polyester.  it keeps you warm because its made of synthetic materials as opposed to cotton.
i'd say its water resistant but definitely not waterproof.  of course theres better shit out there but i've been rocking it for the past 2 winters, usually with just a hoodie and a t-shirt.  i can't skate with too many layers or some bulky ass coat.

I back this jacket. The hoody looks awful and doesn't work well but rolls up and zips away in the collar. There's a black indy logo on the side that I didn't notice when I bought it (I try to avoid logo clothes)
