Max Fish is closing?

I do not live close to New York by any means but I was planning a trip there in the near future.  After searching for the obligatory stop, "Max Fish" on Google I came across a Times article that said it would be closing at the end of January.  Anyone know anything about this because I want to go at least once before it closes?

The comments on that article are awesome. Its either people my age pretending they are authentic New Yorkers saying it sucks that an authentic New York bar is closing. Then older people trying to sound bad ass by saying they remember when Max Fish opened and how it was the first sign of that the Lower East Side was about to gentrify.

Haha good point, I have a fake ID though and my friends dad runs a cowboy bar in a small town and he lets me in to play pool.
