Lakai Manchester Selex's
« on: January 22, 2011, 11:55:48 PM »
What is the consensus on them here? I searched for them a bit before deciding to post this but there wasn't enough to warrant any good/bad leanings. They're on sale at zappos  and I'm thinking about getting em but the reviews (which, almost for any shoe, are usually overwhelmingly positive) buck the aforementioned trend with a lot of mentions that these are really shit shoes that the soles flop right off of after about a month. btw these are the vulc's in mind, not any previous design.

I've never had a pair of Lakais - are they overhyped?  Would the brand have been anywhere had it not been for Fully Flared? And given the choice, would you rather go for a pair of es Square One's/Emerica Reynold's 3's if it meant $20extra bucks? Been trying to decide what I want to get for weeks now and kinda need the internet to steer me one way or another.

I've had two pairs and both times they ripped really fast. The first pair went to shit super fast. The second pair ripped super quick but I managed to make them last about a month or so with a few applications of super glue. They also get really floppy really fast too.

i have about 8 pairs of manchester selects and they've been good to me. usually last a bit over a month before shoe goo is necessary. id pick up a pair of them on sale. they break in pretty quick too

Manchester selects are one of the best shoes i've skated. no break in period.. but yeah you gotta get some shoe goo on em after a month of skating.

I had one pair, they didn't feel too good to skate in and the upper was torn in half after a few skates. People seem to skate them here in the uk because shops sell them cheap all the time.

dude, you just said they lasted you a month before shoe goo. the only way it's possible for lakais to last one month is if you don't do ollies, flip tricks, push, or walk in them.

so many good skatable shoes go to shit after a month of daily skating. manchesters aren't the only ones. i have yet to find some thing thats functional and durable. i'm wearing emerica reynolds classics...so far so good but i can tell they won't last too long.. what shoes are you skating?

Carroll selects destroyed my heels on flatground skating. Haven't tried a pair of Lakai selects ever since.

they are decent, especially if you have a wide foot, but last about 5 sessions

so you think that everyone only buys shoes for durability?

i buy all of my shoes for comfort looks and board feel, durability doesnt mean shit to me coz i can afford to buy new shoes every couple weeks

I just googled "Ballin" and I found this funny. I'm sure you richer than the twentyaire.

I liked the Koston selects, I'd imagine the Manchesters to be about as good.
