Lyrically and technically he's progressed as a rapper immensely. But, the beats and production really hampered this album for me. Yes, he's only 19 and produced the beats entirely by himself, but god damn a vast majority of the synth melodies and phrases on this record are just ill-conceived and poorly executed. I've always realized that Tyler's not the most proficient musician but the beats on Bastard, Earl, and Rolling Papers were far more effective and memorable. This is all coming from a gigantic fan of OF too. Regardless of all that, there were some fantastic tracks here that definitely demonstrate progression: Tron cat, She, Analog, Golden. Overall, kinda bummed on the record but who cares. Mellowhype "Numbers" should be the shit.
