got a couple of buddies flying in from back east today. gonna show them around vegas for the next couple of days. that should provide plenty of fodder for this topic.
but currently, its all gloom and doom out here. impending rain.
I just enjoyed cleaning out my bearings though.

Rained this morning, but I was super hyped to skate today. The weather got a little nicer just after noon. Went to the park with some towells, dried off the ledges, and had a rad session by myself for about an hour and a half before it started raining again. This park is usually pretty busy, but today I was able to do lines from one end of the park to the other, never getting snaked. I was pretty out of breath by the end. It felt good.

Last Sunday I went skating for the first time in about two months--it's been a long winter.
Anyway, I love the feeling of not losing all my tricks. There were times when two months off the board meant re-learning everything, I don't know why that's changed.
Now I'm just waiting for my tax return to get a new board.

the sound of smith grinds against iron angle on brick ledges, and the feeling of going fast and jumping down big stairs.

Tonight it was about finally learning a trick I've been trying to figure out for months now (feebles on ledges). There's nothing like that feeling of unlocking a trick that was a complete mystery up till now.

It's not so much a fear/adrenaline thing, like jumping on a rail or down some gap. It's more like solving a puzzle, but it's a definite high.

Put on new wheels. Didn't get further from that today. Bummer.

Figuring out a new ledge trick is always a treat, one of the best feelings. Did you learn backside feebles or frontside?
I have a really hard time doing them backside--never landed one. But I can do them frontside.

Backside for me. Haven't even tried frontside yet on a ledge - maybe next session...: )

theres nothing like getting out of your last class on a friday and bombing down a hill on the zagger.
then getting to the skatepark, all the snow is gone, no puddles, and the whole crew is there ripping
then wrapping the day up with some pizza and brews with the homies

winter sucks but it makes me appreciate skating so much more

the whole shebang. the homie aspect is sick. these two kids from vancouver that i've never met before came and stayed with my friends and i for two weeks. vicky emailed me asking to put them up for a couple of nights because they were on a two month trip across north america. we met them and took 'em to the orchard ramp. within two hours of knowing the kids it seemed as if they had been part of the crew for years. a few days in and we got kidnapped and brought to connecticut. this shop skate lair had an indoor bowl and we got to skate that while it was pouring out. all in all getting kidnapped wasn't so bad

there's a big downhill that looks like the mega ramp landing ramp thing on the footbridge near my apartment. coming home from the ramp you get to barge down it going fullspeed and hook a right into another downhill. going fast is definitely where it's at. nothing like charging full speed and holding a frontside 5-0 on transition, or whipping into a lipslide and sliding forever
fuck you bama

My friend and I drove 15 miles to get to the grocery store around 11 last night.

Picked up essentials and on the way out of town we stopped at the local high school.

New treasure for us.

Ledges scattered throughout.

Small sets abound, switch ollies for sure.

Nobody was there, but 2 people pulled up in the parking lot and started fucking.

Fire crackered every set there in a line and called it a day.

fresh legs, new skatepark (Dorsey) to myself. Went to another park (culver) to meet some friends and pulled a combo trick out of my ass that made me realize how much better I skate in a session vs alone. Learned about another new street park near me that has a snake run of banks and hips. Heading there today, stoke overload.

I enjoyed skating an indoor skatepark in the rain. I like to skate when it rains. There's a different feel to the park. Maybe it's because there's more people, maybe it's because the air is moist and cool.
