Wow classic. Glad to hear the reminder everything has been done long ago, refreshing. No need to be so uptight, oh nbd whats been done, skateboarding is for fun. That is so funny using Daewon as an argument, and the year he changed up his skating was when Almost 3 came out and Skate More came out the same year, then Cheese and Crackers came out shortly after.
I actually used to get kinda annoyed when after his re-approach, that tons of people now were saying Daewon is their favorite skater. I think the first time I heard of Daewon was some old world ad of a fakie 5-0 at pier 7, something like that, then I bought round 1 when it came out. That year, the videos that were coming out were legendary, and fuck hardly anyone I remember was Daewon is one of the best skaters on the planet. But I thought he was, maybe not the best, but the dopest. Now people reference Daewon in a completely different light.
I read some of the posts in the thread before watching episode 5, and the surfers are regular comments I think you guys didn't get what he was saying. Lost is like the og deathwish type marketing shit. In surfing there are different genres of style, like old man long boarding, tow in big wave, north shore oahu, so cal, and east coast, etc. All different types of weather, and lost was the gnar core shit, that would release 4 hour long vhs surf videos, that basically would be marketed as those 4 hour porn videos.
Just bullshit storm surfing in horrible conditions, filmed really shitty, distorted as fuck punk rock music, lifestyle shots of drinking, drug use, sex, etc. Thats why he was saying the dudes at Lost are regular, hence the name lost, like you're on so many drugs brah and you're LOST, duh!?! and not like billabong, quicksilver, rusty, etc...
Skaters don't use slang anymore, they just repeat stupid catch phrases, kook, fanning out, dick riding, buttery, banging, hammer, etc.. I'm guilty of it, but people need to show some individuality, again...because that was original trend, skateboardings not a team sport, it's an individual sport.
You don't need a coach or a team, to go skateboarding. Thats why traditionally skateboarding attracted the type of people it did.
