midwest road trip
« on: July 22, 2011, 08:52:47 PM »
have some friends visiting from europe in a couple of weeks and plan on doing a road trip. this is the route so far.  planning on spending most of the time in chicago, but looking for recommendations for shit that's close to/worth seeing/skating near this route:

St Louis, MO to St Louis, MO - Google Maps

it would be nice (and cheap) to camp out as much as we can. suggestions of other places/stops are welcome, too.

Iowa City has a goofy but pretty fun concrete park. There's some stuff to skate in town and on the University of Iowa campus too. Chances are if you start out at the public park you'll meet locals who'll show you around town.

There's a few spots listed for Chicago in this thread. It looks like you're passing by Rockford, dunno if it's intentional or not but you might wanna check it out.

Haha, not sure if this is all obvious. If you're looking for more spots in that general area you can PM me or whatever, and I can try to see if I know where they're at. Have fun!

davenport, iowa has a pretty cool park-but like so many midwest parks, it's bike-infested, and the locals do nothing to regulate.
i'm not the official voice of the park, i'm just a guy who skates and works there...
