I appreciate The Simpsons more than a lot of things in life, it always makes me laugh, time and time again.
Also, I want to name a dog Smithers.

Some of the most brilliant humor ever. I really wish the would have ended the show 10-or-so years ago before it increasingly become unfunny.

What episode is it when Apu's employees have to get ice? They go to the north pole to get ice instead of freezing water. Sorry if this description is vague.

Pretty sure you're thinking of the one with Mr. Bobo, Burns' bear.

I've said this before, but anyone who says the Simpsons should have quit 10 years ago is jumping on the bandwagon, and probably hasn't even watched that many new episodes.
I have season 20 and it stands up to any of the older ones. Sure, the classic episodes will always be funnier, but there's no denying that the Simpsons is still funnier than a lot of shows on television.

the new episodes fucking suck, it's not even the same show anymore. the simpsons have become caricatures of themselves. no one watches the show now because it's funny, they just watch it because it's on.

It's got to have one of the broadest demographics of all tv shows - its humour's clever and simple that it appeals on multiple levels to kids and adults. Was my favourite show when I was young, still is now, and can't see it being replaced any time soon in the future.

I can not begin to explain how big of a fan I am. I have been watching the show since I was 5 years old, at the time I didn't understand shit about what it was about but I loved it. I never stopped watching it on tv and 3 years ago I bought my first season on dvd. Now I own the first 10 seasons and not a day goes by without me watching at least 1 episode. Just woke up; Simpsons, bored; Simpsons, can't sleep; Simpsons...
I constantly throw Simpsons quotes/jokes in my daily conversations, even when not a single Simpson fan is around and no one knows what I'm talking about. I don't care, I just amuse myself that way.

They've never failed to explain life to me. Also during my studies, I took all opportunities to incorporate simpsons quotes and scenes into presentations and term papers. As to the subject that the newer episodes suck: clearly, they are from time to time more slapstick-oriented but I don't think they are that bad as many people claim. As Matt Groening said in an audio-comment: people measure the episodes in terms of their memory and the older episodes set the level very high; of course nothing is better than good memories.
