Rob Dyrdek Appreciation

Bobby D's a fucking beast. period. not only did he start the whole skate plaza movement, but he's founded street league, helped get the maloof contests started & is simply skateboardings biggest entrepreneur. hes actually had a very large impact on skateboarding within the last 5-6 years or so. he deserves his props.

I remember getting photosynthesis as one of my first skatevideos when I was 12. At the start of his part Dyrdek says "day one baby!". We always thought that he said "Dick one baby!" and made a conclusion that he fucks a lot of people. But maybe, especially nowadays, he does.

Dydrek's done more for skateboarding than all the SLAP Dydrek-haters combined (and that's understating it by far).

This would be my favorite Dyrdek part:
Rob Dyrdek - Timecode - 1996

This is a great one as well:
Rob Dyrdek - Dreams of Children

In Photosynthese, his first line and the alley-oop and over the top 180 nosegrind on that step-up ledge were always stand-out clips for the whole video to me.

People seem to hate on his newest part quite a bit but even though it was short he has some pretty amazing stuff in it. The frontside blunt and frontside shuv-it nosegrind (on banks) were mind blowing for those spots and he has never really been a tranny skater.

You got to give respect to a guy that stays with the same company their whole career.

If you watch G&S Footage or Memory Screen, he skates tranny and ramps quite a bit.

Fair enough. I know he can skate tranny (as most pros in their mid 30s+ sort of had to at that time) but what I meant is that in his years of peak popularity - I would say around timecode time - it was definitely not his focus, it was not what he was know for and he didn't really bring any progression to that area of skating. Those tricks he did in the new Alien video were pretty fucking progressive bank tricks if you ask me. Both tricks blew doors off what has been done previously at those spots. I was just impressed with that, so anywho.... agree to disagree.

One of the first videos I got was Death of a Video Magazine.
Seeing that I thought Rob and Ave were the coolest mother fuckers!
mini bike, sticky rabbit stu, the bench, breaking into the berras park, street racing!
It was awesome!

I'm not really sure why so many people are hating the guy, I mean sure, he sold out to MTV and turned into a complete tool, but as far as skating goes, he's one of my faves

all that money from MTV helps him build his empire of skate plaza's and street league events. Not too many other pros could do that type of shit. as far as his shows go they're better than most stuff on MTV.  alot of people on here seem to hate ridiculousness but that shit is funny as hell. and rob & big was wayyy better than any other whack ass skateboarder-reality show. Sheckler & TK's shows were both scripted as fuck and were lame. Rob & Big might have been scripted as well but fuck at least that shit was entertaining

Those Microsoft boards gotta be some photoshop shit. I like Rob's skating, and Rob and Big was a funny show but everything after that shit sucked. Quite trying to make Skateboarding into Nascar Rob!

Good job on sucking as much money as you could out of skateboarding.
