My 55m Spitfire Classics work great in nyc, You could probably go down to 53 or 54 though.

You won't be doing any skating in the streets in December. Gonna be mad snow everywhere.

Ive skated in NYC before, i dont get why people say the 'streets are so ruff' there just like anywhere else.
I was there in the summer tho, its probally much different in the winter, idunoo.

i skate 53s to 54s.. and yeah. you can most of the spots on 51s. not all of them.. unless your use to it.
i skate the bigger wheels cause i push around to all the spots. if your thinking about pushing around all day in the city. those extra 3mm help. at least i think so. 50/51 are cool if your just driving to spots. its the all day push that is the hard part for most out of towners.

I ride 53's to most things and it works fine. Just watch out cause some streets are more murderous than others. Some are super pretty.

Yeah, I fucking hate how people talk about New York streets as if it was Somalia or something. Im willing to bet money that theground in my town in Sweden is worse by far. Still, I have no problems with my 51 Darkstars which are a bit softer, 98. I fucking love them, ZERO flatspots, perfect grip, yet slide when needed, hard enough indoors, just right outdoors. Had them for almost two years and the quality is insane, I dont know much about their wood but they sure know how to make wheels. Autobahns are great too, forget about Spitfire, worst brand ever.

it *normally* doesn't snow in december in manhatten (yes for nj, upstate, and maybe long island).. but thats not to say it won't/can't. it does get pretty cold. it will normally snow in jan. but by mid jan its really cold. (below freezing). then there is normally a snow storm around mid feb.. (i am basing this on only 10 years in nyc, so lifers please correct me as needed)

when i went to new york the ground was so smooth compared to where I live in England, and I do fine with Bones 52s. what a stupid thread.
skating is all about choosing your outfit very deliberately, going out in public. looking super sick. and then riding your board a little bit
