Cool idea.  My only question is how do I know if a spot has already been covered if I can't see the map until after I submit the spot?  For example, let's say there's a skate spot on the corner of Sunset Blvd. and Douglas in LA, and I submit it, but you already have it on the map.  Then what?

Hi,
Thats a great point. That has only happened once, and I handled it by giving the person the map link anyways and asking if they wouldnt mind submitting another one. They did, but didnt have to.
Thanks for the support

As for norcal, the spots are extremely limited right now. Im working on getting more.

This seems like a legitimate skate spot website, but the whole hierarchy idea of it is dumb. Users should be able to view the spots whether they submitted at least three spots or not.

This. It basically eliminates anyone not from LA to see any of the spots.

Too complicated, too many rules, too many maps.

If I can't even see the spots without submitting one, I can't really judge the quality of the site, but skatespotter.com has a ton of stuff, plus everyone can access everything. I gotta think that's the way to go.

Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your criticism.

I have taken your suggestions to mind, and I have made some changes to the site. The first map is view-able to anyone regardless if they submit spots are not. I did this so you could see what the maps look like and how everything was set up.
Overall, it is a bit complicated, but this is as simple as I could make it. Just submit 3 spots and you get access.

I have tried this before with my previous website, sharespots.net, but since everything was free to take no one submitted anything.
My interests are to have this website grow, and so far in the last week we have had over 100 spots submitted. The people who like it, LOVE IT.

Yes, sorry about that. But I hope to have sites for all the major cities at some point but I need to complete this one first. Analogy, if you wish to build a skate park you cant just build in any random order. You first need the design, then the foundation, then...
The problem with other skate spot sites is that they have the entire earth as there starting point. Which if there is 1000 around the world, you probably have on a few for your city. Making the site useless.

Thanks everyone and check out the site if you haven't
