how ironic:  skate to a song by fugazi. a band that never sold out.

If all he is going to do is release boards with elephants and lightening bolts why didn't he just stay on Powell?

Not sure if you know but it all goes back to his OG Powell graphic.

Out of curiosity, how many companies has he ridden for? Let me know if I missed any.

Powell (3 times?)
Vallely skateboards
By the Sword
Elephant
Element
Transit
Black Label
World Industries
New Deal
Santa Cruz

Wasn't he on TV as well?

Looking at the OG Powell graphic it looks like the elephant's head is popping out of a vagina. Must have hurt.

I miss the non-sanctimonious, no bullshit Mike V.

...Oh wait. That dude never existed.

his many questionable sponsorships choices aside, I still back him fully. label kills fits easily in my top 5

The part where he pushed around for like 2.5 minutes?
He's a hypocrite, self righteous, and pretentious. Ironically it shows the most when he is trying to feign humility. On top of all of that he is a bully.
How could anyone read that introduction for his new company and take it seriously?

Yes.  Him and Ed Templeton did Television Skateboards for like 6 months in '92 or so.  I think you named all the ones I can name.  Was he on Santa Cruz, or did he just ride for Speed Wheels while he was on Powell Peralta (the first time)?

i like that he's been around long enough for everyone to witness a decades long identity crisis. the absurd 95% of his career makes me not give an ounce of a shit about his influential 5%.

a running list of everything else he failed at, aside from skateboard company owner:

hockey player
wrestler
cage fighter
musician
actor

i know i'm forgetting some.

Ah, I'm still a fan. Still stoked that he came down here and to New Orleans to do his show.

Emailed him about the art, it's done by a cat named Tim Clark.

Pretty cool vid of an old dude cruising around. Wish it was just that though and not another one of his dumb companies. The Phillips rip-off graphic is harsh as.

You could also look at that as a list of stuff the guy has had the balls to take a shot at. Sounds like a pretty interesting life to me. What the fuck have you done that's so impressive?
