That was so sick.
Seeing them skate this spot made me wonder if there is footage of this or not.

This picture pretty much encapsulates everything that is great about skateboarding.

They took off the video. It's just the two episodes on there.

...earlier in the thread I think there was some talk about Ride/Tony Hawk and company's involvement in this, but I just got confirmation that everything here production-wise is entirely on Slap's shoulders. Ride's basically just hosting (or sub hosting I guess since it's a YT thingy).

Trivial info, but just thought I'd share so we can correctly aim our blame.

Thanks grim, I called it though. Anyone who thought it was the ride channel was reaching like crazy. It still feels shitty like a slap production.

I'm both surprised and not surprised.  Although I also question the reasoning behind hosting it on RIDE...views?

Apparently Joseph Gallagher filmed a clip of Lurker Lou that was used without his permission.

...earlier in the thread I think there was some talk about Ride/Tony Hawk and company's involvement in this, but I just got confirmation that everything here production-wise is entirely on Slap's shoulders. Ride's basically just hosting (or sub hosting I guess since it's a YT thingy).

As it's been pointed out, SLAP, as in the people who go into the office every day and produce content didn't actually have much control over the project. From everything I understand, Alex Klein was given complete creative control in contract before the events of the week. That means the manner in which the contest was run as well as the way the series was edited. Honestly, nobody but Alex even knows how the series is going to end.

As far as the Ride channel, I don't really know why it's on there. I think that was more of a High Speed decision.

By the way, I skated with Alex Conn, Kennedy Cantrell, and Mandibleclaw last night. They all testify that Lurker Lou is dope.

I can't decide if straight up taking the video down is any more low than the series itself...

Joseph Gallagher is the guy who made Lurkers and Lurkers 2, He also did some of the Animal Collective videos.

Don't bother hunting it down.  It was 8 minute of boredom (ollie challenge) and 1 awkward minute of Lurker Lou attempting and failing at stomping Matt Militano's board (he was eliminated).  There was a reason it got 983 dislikes on youtube, shit was lame.

I wonder if they're going to pull the whole show now. Why carry on for a few more weeks with something that got such an overwhelming amount of negative feedback. I mean, the SLAP guys obviously pay attention to the message boards... will they set themselves up for more hate?

Still down to see some good footage though. They should just scrap the contest part and just make a 15-20 min vid of a bunch of random kids skating the city.

I think mandibleclaw is going to come through with that, and thank god. it would be tragic to see footage that these kids are capable of producing not see the light of day. especially at a city that has so many spots to offer. its kind of horrible that all this bullshit is happening during a "season" where the skaters are arguably the best OIAM has ever had.

people at SLAP, i hope you guys are bummed. you all fucked up a pretty good thing.

I'm curious whether they will try to re-edit rest of the footage so it becomes less lame but also completely random, or if this thread just suddenly disappears and the footage is scrapped....

As much as I disliked the ollie challenge episode. It was fun to watch and it gave me something to talk about for a few days, instead of tackling real problems in life, like being an immigrant, maybe having an addiction to pornography and general body image issues.
