I saw the Cocteau Twins in Atlanta and it's the only concert where I started crying.  Fucking Liz Frazier making water shoot out of my eyes and shit with her voice.

OCEANSIZE : music for a nurse

Seriously.. one of the best "2nd generation" shoegaze bands out there.
Too bad they quit... but they're AMAZING.

Whoa, I didn't know there was a shoegaze thread on here. Rad. It's my favorite.

Any SF heads without anything to do tonight: there's a shoegaze show at the Hemlock. The Laurels, Fleeting Joys, and Moonbeams. I'll be there. I don't know the other two, but Fleeting Joys are amazing.

I LOVE WHIRR. That band rules so hard.

The first 2 Lush albums, when they were produced by Robin from the Cocteau Twins are my favorite shoegaze albums, also been listening to some new shit like The School of Seven Bells, they have a very 90s shoegaze sound and Grimes has some really cool stuff too.

I've been really into Moon Duo lately. Not sure if they fit this category. Also Wooden Shjips. I guess they're related. Does this post belong in this thread?

Also, for those seriously obsessed with this music and era.

there's a documentary similar to this about The Stone Roses, Ride, My Bloody Valentine and that label ... it was really good.

They played it at a local film fest a couple of years ago, I do remember it being good. Was it called Upside Down?

Gonna see MBV saturday. I might cry.

This is a band from my area, sadly I believe they are on hiatus at the moment but they rule. http://centerofthesun.bandcamp.com/album/machine-gun

Also Weekend and Merchandise have been on my shoegaze playlist as of late.

This band is good. They're from your area? Track them down, make them re-form, and make them play a show in SF.  =)

Had the amazing opportunity to fly to Manchester and see My Bloody Valentine there. Was so incredibly loud indoors, people who didn't know what to expect for when they play the holocaust section for 'you made me realise' were sooo bummed. A security guard said it was the worst noise he'd ever heard.

Luckily got to see them again in Barcelona at Primavera Sound recently, was in the 1st row right in front of Kevin shields. I can check that one off my bucket list. My favorite band of all time.
