Can't thank you enough for posting this Leet. It inspired me to dust off the old guitar and take a few dreamy strums.

Finally got around to seeing the shoegaze/dreampop documentary, Beautiful Noise. I don't know if it's already been posted, but if it hasn't, make sure you've got adblock and stream it here. http://vodlocker.com/ypu6txofkxsz

Eric Richter's (Christie Front Drive) side project from 1999 - Antarctica. The entire record is amazing, this is my favorite track.

just pre-ordered the re-released Lilys album 'Eccsame the Photon Band' on vinyl...they did a couple shows in NYC and Philly last weekend. Hoping for a full tour and reissue of 'In the Presence of Nothing' (which the people at Frontier records claim to be working on)
I also saw him snake a kid with cancer once for some go fund me or some shit.

I'd love to catch them live if they were playing stuff from those earlier albums.

Skywave are amazing; I never knew of many American shoegaze bands before this thread.

Check out these songs, Tufty. I think you'll like them.

A genre that I'm admittedly not super familiar with. Here's some stuff that may or may not have been mentioned.

Swirlies (My favorite besides the obvious masters Ride and My Bloody Valentine)
Swirlies - In Her Many New Found Freedom

Chapterhouse (Their record "Whirlpool" is one of the best, but unfortunately the only one of theirs I like)
Chapterhouse - Breather

Drop Nineteens (Literally, this is the only song of theirs I like and it's from a demo, but it's so fucking good it deserves mention)
Drop Nineteens - Shannon Waves

Technicolor Teeth (friends of mine, unfortunately no longer active, find their record if you can, it's pretty great)
technicolor teeth- station wagon

sometimes I enjoy this as much as the actual MBV album...mainly during the summer months

Japancakes Loveless: Loomer

Yeah that's gotta be one of the best covers album.

I enjoy shoegaze music, but I feel like what I'm really saying is "I love MBV"
I like Cocteau Twins, Lush, Ride, Kitchens of Distinction, and some others, but I feel like what MBV did was just so above everybody else, I don't listen to the other bands nearly as much.

My favorite current acts that use shoegaze elements in their music, are Atlas Sound and The Twilight Sad
The Twilight Sad - Cold Days from the Birdhouse
I highly recommend listening to the above song. It's got to be one of my favorite opening tracks, and is amazingly intense.
