where in japan/china/korea/taiwan should i go?

So i'm going to the philippines this May with my girl and there's an opportunity to go to another country or two for a few nights. Not telling the girl this, but my primary concern is skateboarding... so where should I go? I was thinking Tokyo, seems like the safest for me to cruise around on my own, but I've never been to that area of the world, so what the fuck do i know?

any suggestions/volunteer tour guides on slap?
