The transfer is pretty easy.

Transferring your files on the other hand....

transferring my files is easy.  did it for my friend.  just need to get my skate videos and music and im good.  that can all be done with the ease of my ipod doubling as a external harddrive.

Yeah, all I have is my nano though, and moving things 2gb at a time is no fun.

this just a though, but there is this thing call boot camp software for mac, so you can use windows xp on a mac computer, it may make it easyer to tranfer all your files instead of  convert all your files, and putting on all of your skate video and music can be a hastle, to put into i-tune or quick time pro or what ever...

all my skatevideos and music are on itunes so it shouldnt be a problem converting wise.

When you first turn one on out of the box, you get a welcome thing and it shows the basics also the box comes with some index card things where it shows some shortcuts and all the things that your OS can do. pretty much everything has this video explanation things that will get you on the basics, any doubts and some stuff that you weren't even thinking to do.

It's nice actually the transfer, If theres a program that you dont need and it rags up that much space you can uninstall it, you're provided with a CD for future reinstallment.

the apple website has many Q&A that are really good

I dunno what kind of programs you have in mind to be using so I cant say much on that but pretty much the computer will come with everything you'll need

Plug them both into a router.

Set up file sharing on the PC.

Transfer through the shared folder.

Linux is great unless you want to do any print graphics or video editing... then you'll have to have a Windows install so you can boot up into an editing environment (I'm not knocking Linux at all, but it's way better as a developing/administrative platform than for design). It all depends on what you want to do with it.

Anyway, here's a little Mac demo video, if it helps:

Haven't used it, but I hear this is a decent video editing app for linux:

If you have any problems with your mac, go to macaddict.com forum under balloon help and someone will help you within 24 hours of your post.  Guaranteed.
