removing vans insoles
« on: June 18, 2012, 05:02:06 AM »
anyone care to enlighten me to the actual technique to getting vans insoles out?

feet aren't liking the lack of cushioning that the 'non pro's are giving me so I need to get some others in there asap

Heard talk of using a butter knife, but is it as simple as just levering the fucker up and then scraping it all out?  Ideally I want it out in one bit, without a load of shite left in there

In my experience, no, there isn't an easy way. I've used a knife as well. Unlacing them completely helps too. Sometimes certain shoes are easier than others for some reason.

But yeah, as far as I know: Peel them up as much as possible with your fingers, keeping as much foam on the insole then when it starts getting tough near the toe, get out the better knife (well I used a dinner knife, might be better).

Good luck.

^ Exactly. It's no easy way but if you do it right and fit the new insoles your feet would be thankful.

Patience was the key

Had to work them out bit by bit but they're now out!!  1 came out with the cardboard layer (seems like cardboard) but both in one piece.  Chucking some lunarlon fuckers in there now ;-)

Ive always peeled most out of the insole out then had to take a knife and remove the leftover foam by the toes. It takes time but its worth it. I put habitat insoles in and they felt way better.

I just feverishly rub at the leftover stuck-on foam with my fingers until it all disintegrates off, leaving a huge mess.

This. It works especially well if you put a piece of extra grip on your hand

I just did earlier today. Was not pretty. The butter knife trick worked!
