Wii U??
« on: November 07, 2012, 05:56:54 PM »
So the Wii U is coming out soon.... I'm just curious is anyone going to get one? So far no one I know is buying one, me included. Personally I felt that after the initial hype of the Wii died down there wasn't much there. There was a must have title maybe once a year but for the most part my Wii was an expensive dust collector.

I'd rather boot up the old N64....

I will not be getting it. Not at launch at least. Even though the launch lineup is solid, I'm gonna wait at least 6 months, probably a year to see what good first party software Nintendo comes out with.

HD Zelda will be pretty tight once it arrives though, and the new Smash Bros

HD Zelda might be sick but without sounding to much like an old guy wishing for the days of yore i'd rather play play zelda on snes or ocarina of time. I never finished skyward sword and motion controls annoy the hell of of me. hmmm i think i just convinced myself never to buy a wii u.

i think you have the right idea to wait and see out it goes.

So far it seems like Nintendo has gifted us with a half baked system (3 hour day one update required?!) and a handful of incredibly lackluster launch titles.  The Wii did it right with the Wii Sports pack in which everyone wanted to play for a while there, but with this it's like the killer title is honestly just another Mario side scroller (don't get me wrong I like Mario games, this just won't make me shell out enough for a new system)?

indeed. if i wanted to make a wide generalization and I do, 2d mario games have had the same basic gameplay since mario 3 on the nes. there have been new items along the way, new enemies, etc but its basically the same core game. Don't get  me wrong the games are good but it is expected to be a console seller?

nope, its not going to fly. for me anyway.

I compare it to when I played mario 64 for the first time. holy shit that was amazing. mario in 3d! and look at him jump! but another 2d game? eh what else is happening....

I hacked my wii to run games off of a hard drive/sd card/thumb drive after the dvd drive started failing so it has been a very pleasant experience.  I just wish it had more internal memory for saves.

I'd probably get a wii u over the other systems since I got two school aged kids and I mainly play video games with them now.

I love my Wii-U, even though the library is obviously limited. 3D World and Wind Waker HD have been keeping me occupied though.
