Welcome Skateboards Fall 12/13 Drop
« on: November 06, 2012, 09:52:17 PM »
Why do I still ride a Popsicle shape? That Owl on Waxing Moon shape might have to be my next board.

Welcome makes some fun shapes that are good for any terrain.
Just for reference, best dudes.

Word to the wise: It says 8.5 - but it skates like an 8.25.

Yeah, fuck a shape that doesn't limit your trick selection. Fuckin dweeb. Funky shapes is cool, but don't dis that shit that actually makes sense.

No big. I don't trip that much over size honestly, I can usually adapt as long as it's not like a 7.5 or something. Unfortunately, it's like 2.5 hours either way to a shop that actually carries them so I wouldn't be able check it out beforehand, but I might take a chance and order one.
Why's everyone so touchy about everyone else's opinions? Chill the fuck out.

Word - once you get used to it, you're going to love it (I ordered mine too since no one around NY really has them yet). It's got nice snap, pop and the edges of the nose and tail are weird in a great way (more angled). I just want one a little longer - for my next deck it's either the squid or elecat.

Go fuck with one, Ball Chinian - the difference I've had with the Jackalope to a popcicle is pretty non-existent. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.  :o

shying away from things really limits your options, do everything! it's more fun :)

These guys rip and it's cool to see different shapes and sizes out. I hope the quality of the wood is good for y'all!

the shapes are kinda odd, but whatever the art is sick for all their soft goods.

easily one of the most interesting companies out. so many awesome shapes to choose from. i don't know about switching fully from my regular deck, but who knows they all look way more fun than my current 8.25 deck

A shop out here sells them and I'm glad I go to check them out in person. I personally really like the idea of having different shapes in your catalog. It reminds me of skating in the late 80's/early 90's that I was too young to be a part of. When Vert and Street were two completely separate choices. The only thing I'm worried about though is finding a shape that I really do like better than a traditional popsicle deck, and then have them stop producing it.

i think they measure the board at the widest point, just like how zig zaggers are measured at 8.5 but hardly skate like one, if thats the case, they would skate like an 8.3 at the biggest. owl.

Really want Nolan's pro model, saw a guy here riding one the other day, so sick in person. I have been riding mostly "shaped" boards for a while now and don't notice much difference, but then again I don't do many flip tricks.

Love that Deck - can't wait to see that in person as well...

Recently got the Squid Deck, but haven't set it up yet. The shop I went to had a few, but pretty much sold out in 2 weeks:

I find flip tricks are no different on these decks too.

I just got the Magic Monkey for black friday. I didn't realize it was 9 inches at the shop but I'm still going to skate it after my back gets better. Anyone know if it's easy to get used to? I barely do flip tricks.

that one is barely bigger than a 8.5 because of the taper. My friend rides his with 149s and they fit perfect.
