Not sure what to think about this. Im backing New Balance.. but in the skate game?? with all the core-skate-brand-vs-the-corpo-one drama aside.. who would fit on the team?? Brezinski is the first name that come to my mind.

My body is jacked from skating, so over the last 10 years I pretty much exclusively have worn the NB 991, 992 and now 993 series shoes... all made in america... but only their high end shoes are made in America... I believe their mid grade shoes at the mall are not. I hope the # is I must say, but I doubt it. $200 skate shoes... no way.

OKAY so why has no one mentioned PJ Ladd as the first pro???

THIS IS HORSE SHIT!
Either Black Box isn't doing so hot or Jamie is starting to get a bit greedy.

For the sake of supporting one's self, I can see the justification of making such moves.
BUT AT WHAT COST?!

Starting?

I don't really care about it, but them doing a program through Black Box makes me want them less.  Also, I remember when the picture of these surfaced years ago.

I'd skate them.

He made that board when he became a born again Christian or whatever. People told him not to, but he didn't listen. He didn't do it for the money. People told him it wouldn't even sell.

This New Balance shit is bullshit though. Fuck Black Box.

One thing I do really like about this is that New Balances are traditionally American made. If they stick w/ that for this program I believe they'd be the only made in USA skate shoes on the market.
[close]
said this on here before, but all the hipsters and yuppies that support New Balance cuz they are made in America are regular, they only make about 15%-20% of their shoes in the US, and those are the ones that are sold mostly at core running shoe stores, not at Footlocker or any other mall. Pick a pair up look at the tongue Made in China or Made in Vietnam.
thats a funny phrase but it actually makes sense. I ran XC in high school and so did my other friend who skates and I can see the parallels. There was also this general consensus among runners that New Balance made the best running shoes, everything else was sub par. In other words if you where a serious runner, you wore New Balance.

I already respect the brand and I kinda like that they are being respectful and doing it through an already established brand like black box. I will still only buy skater owned brands but ones you idiots fuck everything up and there are no more core brands I guess I'd trust New Balance with my feet more than Nike, Adidas etc.

It's only fair. Skate companies have been getting into the lifestyle shoe market for the past 5-6 years now.

The Emerica Hopi anyone? You know it's the perfect bong shoe.

These are actually pretty sick.

I'm on the fence, US made shoes backed by Jamie sound nice, but I think of dads and neckbeards when I think new balance. If they look good to skate I'll give it a try, they probably have the money to put out some decent shoes.

Not even going to lie, I'm stoked on the possibilities. The industry keeps putting out the same lame middle school shoe designs over and over again in fruity pebbles colors. Maybe it's just me but the majority of skate shoes are ugly and all look the same aside from the logos. If core companies put out a product that didn't fall apart in a few sessions or didn't look like a part of the total nor cal bro douchebag uniform I might be disappointed by this news.
New balance makes quality shoes that feel like clouds under your feet as you walk and last for years. We've already lost the war and most of our icons to corporate sponsorship the very least we could get is aesthetically pleasing footwear. Bring on the New Balance, Saucony Cambridge skate edition(that's the closest thing we'll ever have to those awesome MJs from 99), bring on the Onitsuka Tigers. If I'm going to be forced to watch the industry get molested at least let me do it in good looking shoes.

Running is one industry that is actually not run by Adidas and Nike.....but asics, new balance etc.....prolly cause these companies actually make good products, and haven't been led astray by the mainstream......
