Florida skate parks / worthy spots to check
« on: January 24, 2013, 09:04:25 PM »
I'm gonna be driving down to the big peninsula in a few weeks with a few friends....we're pretty much open to anything, maybe not parks that aren't 100% huge tranny. what's worth checking out down here? are there any really fantastic parks that are relatively new?

probably skipping out on the gulf coast but anything other than that...suggestions are super appreciated :)

Manatee Springs State Park. At the right time of year you can see Manatees! and i think it's the right time of the year.

There's no skating though.

Jacksonville, Kona skatepark.
Rent a sweaty helmet and stay out of the street course

If you get to West Palm Beach there's the sickest brick bank about 5 blocks from the main waterfront.  Tailslides like a dream!!  There's definitely other fun stuff around as well.

if your in southwest florida , the tampa area has spot, brandon, apollo beach, and another concrete park ive never been to.
st pete has an indoor park called the school yard
the brand new bradenton park is super fun and its huge, right on the manatee bay
and sarasota has payne park and that place is fun too.

when in doubt always check concrete disciples.
im from md and I'm not sure whats up with street spots in fl since normally my time in florida is limited to a few days at a time.

did a florida trip last year and basically went on a search for concrete parks with no helmet rules. Gainesville has a good one, St Petersburg (right near tampa) had a fun one, St Augustine had a decent park, and it looked like Sarasota did too but I didnt make it to that one. If you like a park that has a lot of street shit with some tranny (hips/banks, not 8ft quarters), then go to Gainesville. That was probably the best park I've ever skated.

The Bradenton park looks amazing but its a little out of the way. However thanks for the tip on that Gainesville park, will definitely be stopping there! as well as the manatee park hahah
