How other people view Skateboarding
« on: June 07, 2012, 09:40:46 PM »
I've always noticed that whenever someone I talk to finds out that I skate, they immediately try and act as if they know every damn thing ever. I've been asked if I like "Tommy Hawks", or if I ever ride "DC Boards". Has anyone else dealt with this, or anything similar?

Yeah that's happened to me before at school, the usually question they ask me when they find out I skate is...
"Is Tony Hawks the best skater?". But up until recently the question now is "Whose your favorite skater?, mines Nyjah Huston" since street league started. Its really annoying because you know that they don't know shit about skateboarding but they try act like they do. 99.7% of the school is into rugby and what not, so I just stare at them blankly and ignore them.

All of my friends that don't skate are pretty marveled by it. Besides the general "what's your hardest trick" questions, they're super fascinated by something as simple as an ollie or kickflip.

watching skate videos with non-skaters is always amusing, the kind of terminology they use is brilliant. etc...

long nose grind = huge endo on a wall

bs flip down a gap = kiclflip wrong way spin to fakie

the classic, 50-50 = double truck grind

i some times smoke with this dude that doesn't skate but he watches vids on you tube and plays the games and knows the tricks

his opions are classic, he recons the only reason why pros are so good is because they always have new stuff, any ollie no matter how big is not up to par and the dude is lagging and he could at least kickflip it, he recons carol is nothing more then a 30 yr old wanna be gangsta milkin the skate industry, he has no concept of style and hates wallie tricks, hates pool skating and recons it would be super easy and should work the same as vert

i oftern wonder why i hang out with him, but when i do i find myself roflmayo'ing quoting him for months after too my skate buddy's

When I was watching a Skate video yesterday a girl asked me if I watch Ridiculiousness. I was extremely annoyed by this as it's one of the few shows that I hate with a passion. The title of the show alone is enough for me to hate it.
