Yes they are. TERRIBLE.
NIKE is laughing at all of us.
Seriously. They are rolling. Throw a swoosh on it, charge $15.00 more than any other shoe with similar construction and color it like a box of Skittles threw up on them.
Ridiculous.

Nike using green screen technology to edit everyone's footage to where they're always wearing the latest models & colorways, its the next big thing in marketing.

no they are a skate version of the soccer shoe the Gato

alex olson influenced probably, because there is footage of him skating the soccer shoe

they're exactly the same as the Lunar Gato which Nike has already been making, just check google images:  http://www.google.com/search?q=nike+lunar+gato&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=sT9gUfmiCaLk4AOSfA&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1407&bih=854

They are the same pretty much, but I would be guessing from the picture that the sb ones have some suede going on?

A shoe can look pretty much exactly the same but feel way different too. I tried a pair of gato's out and it felt like standing on a rock, they probably did something about that for the skate edition... I hope.

Yeah you would hope they may have put something in the sole to help out a bit. The picture makes them look a bit thicker? Then again that could just be the way they are laced/set up.

Nope, tooling is exactly the same as the soccer version.
As I said before. This shoe was rushed into the line when Alex Olsen rejected a shoe called the "autoclave".
It would have been cost prohibitive to change the existing tooling.
Whether or not it had performance enhancements for skateboarding, it would have negatively effected the margin on the shoe.
Suede is the only skate performance change in the shoe.

why would he have 'rejected' it and why would they have cared?  were they trying to market it through him exclusively even though it wouldn't have been his pro shoe?

One would think so, seeing as Gino isn't doing anything this year

Rejected it because it was terrible. And they cared because Alex Olsen said he wouldn't wear it.

Patent leather and mesh are by far the most durable materials for skateboard shoes (said no one).

Clown shoes.

^ patent leather actually holds up pretty well. I had a friend awhile back who skated the classic shelltoe adidas with the patent leather stripes and side panels and they lasted quite a while. it looks kinda fucked up once its worn down, but it does last.

also i doubt people would buy these with the intention of skating them anyway.

I actually liked the OG Veronas better than Vans slip ons to skate in.  Saw on Tactics that the insole is not removable.  Like some of those non patterned colorways up there.

yes and no. there will be "SB" versions and non-"SB" versions of the Verona.
Holiday 13 is the last season there is a "SB" line and a non-"SB" line.
All shoes coming out of NIKE's Action division will have the SB logo on them for Spring 14.
All the pro-models, all the P-Rod branded shoes, all the big fat shoes at JC Penney, all of the Blazer LR's at FootLocker, all the Janoski's at Pac Sun, etc will all have the SB brand mark.
