I know I bitched about this in some thread prior, but they finally did it. Death Waltz's reissue of the Twin Peaks soundtrack!

^ nice! Did you get the bloodshot eye color on a weird exits? I think I missed it by a few hours but the swampy color I got is pretty rad. I didn't care much for that album the first few listens but it's grown on me a bit. Castlemania is still on my list but I actually have Carrion Crawler coming in the mail today.

Dude, I know! My buddy works at a record store in Denver and spotted me one for 20 bucks, such a deal.
Those Antarctigo records are fucking great, Chris Farren is actually releasing a new record soon and the first single off it is pretty good. Actually seeing AJJ tomorrow/Friday and hope to pick up the bible 2 as well. Sean's a good dude, plus he rips!

Yeah, Sean lives like an hour from me and I've had the good fortune of chatting with him one on one about music and skating. My copy of Bible 2 technically hasn't arrived yet but it should be here any day now. It's so good though.

Last night I was bored and made a list of all my records which is 60 something deep. I'll post it when I get home :D

I've recently started to really work on expanding my collection, for a long time I'd just pick up a record here and there but I recently started getting heavy into shit like the Crate Diggers series on YouTube. Amoeba does some segment called "What's In My Bag?" so I've found a lot of cool stuff through that too. Started making a list of records I'm looking for. I've been trying to expand my hip-hop collection to start. Found a couple Public Enemy singles, "Fight The Power" and "Night of the Living Baseheads" on what I believe are first pressings. Also grabbed a Nas/AZ single for "The Essence" which is pretty dope. Each one was like $5.00 so I can't complain. I haven't gone deep into the whole Discogs pricing stuff so maybe I'm being ripped off, I have no idea.

I went through all that stuff too when I first got obsessed. I have a list in my phone a mile long of records I'd like to own, but after a while I stopped looking at it. If I go record shopping now, I just look and if find something, great, if i don't, thats great too. Too often I'd find myself buying crappy records just because I wanted to buy SOMETHING. I'd play them once then they would take up space on the shelf. I finally sold a bunch back not so long ago and used the money to get a Liars album that I really wanted. One good album is better than 30 ok albums if you ask me, especially when you already have hundreds. I think the coolest thing about record collecting is that it broadened my musical knowledge by a ton. I found tons of great bands and even realized that I like some bands that I previously thought I didnt like.

And discogs is pretty cool about some things. Just about everything I've gotten from there, I've gotten for below the median price. A few at the lowest price its ever went for. I put records that I know are I probably wont find in a store on my discogs wishlish and if one pops up at a price I like, I buy it. The thing about discogs though, is good record store owners HATE it when you whip out your phone in their store to check the price of a record. They know anyone can go online and probably get anything they want for cheaper than what they can afford to sell it at the store, but there store is there for more than the money. You're a skateboarder, you know what the local shop mean. Theres a guy I work with that I've gone digging with on lunch and he's the guy who's on his phone checking everything he pulls and I've seen the shop owners get a little upset when they realize what hes doing. You dont want to be that guy.

Yeah, absolutely. I don't ever want to get that that 30,000 records "I bought this album for one 30 second sample" guy because I'm not a fucking DJ or anything, I'd just like to have a solid collection. I've definitely purchased a few questionable records just because I had money to burn on something dumb. I have a buddy who will buy 5 copies of the same album to have every colour variant of the pressing, it's fun to look through but it's a little excessive. I have a habit of being a completest when it comes to music, so my lists usually just pertain to everything I can find from a particular artist. I know it isn't vinyl, but with everyone wanting to collect stuff on wax people are dumping their CD collections. I've found a bunch of great stuff real cheap at Value Village and other thrift stores. They're so picked over for vinyl more often than not I won't even bother looking.

In regards to being the Discogs guy in the store I could never do that, equating it to a skateshop is a great example. I'd never stand in a shop and price check everything.

Exactly. A good collection has to live and records sometime have to go in order to make space for the new ones.
I have so much stuff I haven't listened to in ages, some I want to keep but some will be better in someone else's home.

not for me......I'd say one good = 3 ok ones!
I just love to have variety. And there's a lot of stuff I bought just cause it was dirt cheap and it opened me up to some amazing shit. Just lately I bought 2 Emerson Lake and Palmer LPs, and I was never into prog-rock but these 2 blew me away!

Some pretty insane deals on here. Lots to scroll through so you're best off using the search bar. I got METZ 2 and Holograms s/t for less than $20 total.

I had METZ II for sale on my Discogs for $8 (not a fan). Sold it just prior to seeing this, otherwise I would've hit you up.

Nothing for sale at the moment (I usually just post a record at a time since people never have bought multiple records from me at once, maybe the shit I post is too random?).Not really a fan of selling. I used to give them to a friend to sell since he had much higher traffic/inventory at his shop. I've been debating throwing a handful of records on there, but I hate having records potentially just sitting there for months on end. Take a look at my partial collection if you feel so inclined. When I first got on discogs I posted some of my collection but quit and I never update with stuff I find at record stores or at shows. I may have METZ first record too somewhere (bought it at a show because they were pretty good live but I found the record to be underwhelming).

And a picture of "the main portion" (my singles and cassettes are in the white boxes to the left. More trash in LP boxes in my closet)

you've got some nice stuff.

ive thought about trying to log my collection on discogs, but i dont want to take the time to do it. ive got a 2x4 shelf thats like 90% full, so it would take me days to log them all and figure out what pressings i had. theres also a ton of records that belonged to mine and fiancees fathers that id like to go through and get rid of, but i just cant. her dad died before we met, so she has a personal connection with his stuff. plus theyre not mine to sell/trade/trash. my dad likes playing his records when he comes over and id feel bad if i he came over and couldnt play something because i sold it.

Yeah, it's a pretty trite an pointless task, especially if your collection's always changing. My singles would take fucking forever, never mind the LPs. So I pretty much just gave up. Also, depending on the records, some aren't even worth selling (like the trash in my closet) so you might as well just keep them and get "cool guy" points. Quantity.
