Blur S/T: Brand new, $8.82 shipped.

http://www.amazon.com/Blur-BLUR/dp/B00EVSA93A/ref=sr_1_2?m=A33BUW0UC6W05V&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1476191125&sr=1-2&keywords=blur
Not usually down with buying records on amazon, but if it was still available, I would've been all over that shit.

How is it? I've heard somewhat mixed reactions. I'm going to pick it up regardless most likely, just haven't had a chance to yet.

Cleared out a bunch of garbage albums from my collection (James Taylor, Neil Diamond, ect.) And traded them in to a local shop for $30. I picked up Currents by Tame Impala which was $30, then found a brand new copy of Sunbathing Animal by Parquet Courts for $10 and a used promo copy of Misfits by The Kinks for $5.

As of this year, been pretty comfortable with what i already own and got to downsize a bit. Been focusing to the 45s and singles,
as they use less space and are usually tracks that aren't on LPs. Here's the set up:

And here's some sounds off of those LPs that are displayed on the shelves:

looks like we have similar tastes........and a similar set-up (except my place is 1000 times more messy, due to my having kids!!)
Other notable difference: I never buy 45's. Listening time is too short for my lazy ass.

But I love Mingus and Palmieri, the other 2 are nice discoveries so thanks!

Personnaly I haven't bought too much stuff lately but that new Thundercat album has great packaging. 4 red vinyls. And the music is fabulous of course.

Great album, I couldn't believe the song featuring Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. Last collaboration I would have ever imagined, and it was incredible.

Digging the Saves The Day stuff, I have a soft spot for "Through Being Cool" despite the obvious aping of Lifetime (probably actually why I like it as much as I do)

I listened to this on repeat forever at my comic store job in 91? Some amazing stuff. There's a part, I think from when the one bike hang was chasing them, that would get me pumped and is go it into the alley and skate Everytime I heard it.

Killed 2 birds with one stone at the Paris flea market........ stoked ! I had been looking for these 2 for a looooong time. Funkdoobiest was still sealed, clear vinyl!
The other one is an old-school French punk band, pretty much the one album I did not have from them.

Finally got a new needle for my record player after months of putting it off, so I'm getting back into the spirit again. Recently picked up Dead Moon's Stranded In The Mystery Zone in honor of Fred Cole's late passing and while I was there I found a real cheap copy of Ramones' Rocket To Russia, so I've been on a teenage punk kick this past week.

Neil Young-Harvest Moon. Just got it in the mail. It's the "Record Store Day" version which I don't care about but stoked to finally have this record. First time it's pressed/released in the U.S, I know it was released somewhere in Europe when it was first release in 1992. This version is rad because it is a double LP with side D has the cover printed on it. Highly recommend giving it a listen if you're into Neil Young or similar artists.

Since the start of the year I've gotten:

King Gizz - Polygondwanaland (It's a red/blue split with splatter colored vinyl. Really cool looking)
Oh Sees - Castle Mania and Help
Make Up - Sound Verite
Parliament - Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome
Creedence - "The Concert" live album
Damaged Bug - Cold Hot Plumbs (Clear with highlighter yellow splatter)

Damaged Bug and King Gizz were ordered online, all the rest came from my local shop. I almost bought Sabbath's Master of Reality from them the other day but they wanted $20 for a late 70's repress and it definitely didn't sound like it was worth $20. It really bums me out when shops do that shit.

Also preordered the deluxe version of the new Parquet Courts album that drops in May and I got an inside scoop that Castle Face is releasing a Uranium Club live in San Francisco album later this year which is as good as bought from me.

I desperately need a new record player. All I have is one of those shitty Crosby ones that basically fuck up your records. Any tips on something that'll be good on my wallet yet decent in sound?

I would suggest hitting a thrift shop or flea market and getting an old player if parts aren't working get em cheap on ebay. Magnavox is great in my opinion

The best deal you'll probably get on something that is in good working condition is at a pawn shop, and then i'd just get a replacement stylus online (will significantly improve the sound)

How do you define “good on the wallet”? I use a Technics SL-1200 (definitely not the lightest on the wallet) and a Pro Ject Debut Carbon, which I’ve seen go on sale for about $299 from time to time (with all of the bells and whistles), and I’d say is well worth it to not trash your records and to sound like pricier models. I’ve also heard good things about the U-Turn Orbit Basic, which look easy to upgrade and I usually see around $180. I feel like a douche putting it like this, but I wouldn’t spend less than $120 on a turntable unless you find a ridiculous deal on something used (I got my Technics at an estate sale for about $500 below average, so if you have the time, peep some out). I’m curious about some of the U-Turns myself, actually.

Thanks for all the tips, dudes. Heading to some pawn shops tomorrow to scope things out. My budget cap is about $250.00 at most so I hope something comes up.

These go on sale every now and again. Most people seem pretty happy with them. Otherwise the best bet is probably craigslist and garage sales. Record stores sometimes sell used gear too.

I always tell people to start with older friends and relatives. I've gotten multiple full set ups for free from my family and friends who had old stuff collecting dust.
