Not really feeling this drop. Wu-Tang graphics are played out, the "Tune" board is too similar to that James Kelch board for my liking, zebra stripes belong on the shelf of Hot Topic, and the M-Wing looks like a Jahmal Williams board from a year or two ago. Also I don't like the color purple.

I hate to be so negative, as I really liked your boards from past seasons, but this bums me out.

I like the branch off from your traditional styles. I think a company called Music should explore all genres. It just sucks cause the hip-hop graphics has been beat to death at this point. I love the purple tape reference. I feel that was spot on with your all over graphic theme you have every season. Definitely agree on the Wu and De La decks being done a lot. There is so much great covers in hip-hop albums that I wonder why people use the same references over again. Would be cool to just come out of left field and use say Jeru The Damanja's Wrath of the Math...well, if that is coming out of left field anyways.

Still dope though.

Doing a series on 90's hip hop was hard for us cause it has been done by most skateboard companies. I also felt, as a brand that is based on different music genres if we just skipped the whole Hip Hop topic would be lame of us.

When we picked what graphic to do, we picked the albums that mean the most to us from that time, which was Low End Theory, 3 Feet High and Rising, and of course 36 Chambers. Also anyone who grew up skating NY at that time and watched Trilogy 5 times a day like me will get the Polo and Fila references.

Going in to this I knew some people would hate this series and some would love it.

Fongstarr, I'm stoked you got the purple tape reference, A lot of people don't know the story behind that one.

I like them.  If you're gonna do a classic early 90's hip hop series, these are arguably 3 of the most influential albums.  And I like that each of these is an ode to the cover and not a blatant rip-off.  The chambers one easily/lazily could have just been done with the wu W inverted into an M like Menace did but I like that they kept it as their block M.

And the Kelch board has nothing to do with de la.

I've never really liked the Tribe red/green/black striped theme.

I like it, small catalog but a NICE catalog.

someone said Wu-Tang graphics are played out, but its classic stuff, so its most of the times nice.

keep things on this vibe, I love your brand.

i'll pick up the de la shape at some point.. i like that you went with radically different graphics for each deck this time around instead of just doing the whole series idea again.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the M-Wing reference? Is totally unrelated to the hip-hop genre you guys went with?

Yep, it's the Polo P-wing logo. Beside it being the popular brand durning early 90's hip hop, a P-Wing shirt, a Polo 1992 cap and Fila Classics was the uniform for most who skated downtown Manhattan.

I'd get the three feet high and rising, but ride an 8.5.
Love that album, but end up listening to De la soul is dead more often.

Wanted to do 8.5 decks, but it was hard to justify.
They were a hard sell for us and still sitting on a sack of them from our last series.

I like where this is going, and see lots of potential.  Def would have loved to see more deck graphics make it into shirts.
