Stopped skateboarding for a year and starting back up again and I am getting my old tricks like tre's back easy but I now have acess to a mini and am trying to learn how to skate it but cant keep speed at all I drop in get one stall trick in the slow down so much please help me learn how to keep speed
Don't drop in. If you want to learn to pump, first off start at the bottom and make getting to the lip your goal (without pushing of course). Also don't kickturn- go up, come down fakie, go up the next wall backwards, come down forward. That way you won't get thrown off by the turn itself while you're learning.
The basic movement you want is to bend your knees like you're starting to kneel when you begin to roll up the tranny but then do a "stand up" motion, almost pushing your wheels into the tranny, just like you'd do if you wanted to get a little extra speed from a curb cut. I'd say the point you want to do the stand up motion is about half way up the tranny. Also, don't keep your knees bent then stand, it should be one smooth motion down then up.
Go start at the bottom of the ramp and don't bother dropping in again until you can get to the top without pushing in the flatbottom.
I think it's pretty weird that you're doing 360 flips but struggling with the basics of riding and controlling your speed, it's not much different on tranny than it is on street. Don't learn shit backwards, it'll show in your style and diversity down the road.
Sorry if that wasn't helpful. Fuck, just go ride into some little inclines like driveways and curbcuts. When you straighten your legs at the bottom of the incline to get a little extra speed, that's the exact same thing you do to keep speed on tranny. If you don't know what I'm talking about then back up even further. Forget that you can do any tricks for a while and go get comfortable flowing around on your board. Whether it's on streets or tranny pumping and carving should be completely natural motions before getting focused on other trickery.
