Kyushu, Japan

Planning a trip to Kyushu in a couple of months. Anybody familiar with that area and can recommend things to do and see? doesn't have to be skate related.

Kyushu is the boonies. There are a few major cities but it's pretty country. Hard to get around without a car. Granted this all depends on where you are going and what you want to do.
I've a got a couple of friends I could set you up with if you are looking for someone to skate with. Again this depends on where you are going.

i live here in the "boonies" LOL

^^^ is a list of parks in kyushu/ okinawa but you're gunna need some kanji skills to navigate it.
wait! this guy translated it:
http://elevatedtracks.blogspot.jp/2010/08/japanese-skatepark-listing.html

-  fukuoka is the bomb for street skating (kumamoto also has some nice street spots). fukuoka is far from being the boonies though. there is a bowl-orientated park in koga city too.
- nagasaki has a few good parks. http://skate-stream.com/park/park-nagasaki/nagasaki-oee/ (search for the element videos from when they toured).
- miyazaki is a bit of a surfing prefecture but also has a few little parks. http://www.kumaya.jp/atikoti107.html
- oita is pretty dead (where i live now >:( ).
- kagoshima doesn't have a park per se but lots of street spots (most of them hidden/ hard to access though). watch out! that ash is slippery :o
- saga has ... well no one ever goes to saga (poor saga) but i think there is a shop called "junk trap" that has a mini ramp.

as for things to do/ places to see: pm me and tell where you plan on going ;)

Ha! Sorry, no offence intended. But you've got to admit that the majority of Kyushu is country.

Oh shit... I just realized you are going to the hottest place in Japan at the hottest time of the year.
You're going to suffer!

none taken mate. compared to the rest of japan, yes kyushu is quite rural.
kagoshima and kumamoto are quite large cities though and fukuoka is defs one of the coolest japanese cities there is (not just me that thinks so either http://fukuoka-now.com/2012/06/fukuoka-city-ranked-12th-best-city-in-the-world/).
lots of untapped spots too; i would love to see the magenta footage from kyushu.
yeah, it's gunna be hot when he comes but it's still better than coming in rainy season.
