Fender Standard Telecaster MIM vs American

I'm looking to get a standard fender telecaster and on Ebay I'm noticing the MIM models are significantly cheaper than the made in America ones. Is there a huge difference between the two? Am I missing something? Does Fender cut out upgrading certain features/options on the MIM vs the American one or is the price difference just in perceived value?

Also, people on Ebay piss me off. I've noticed lots of people posting guitars as "Fender Standard Telecaster", jacking up the price, but then in the small print noting it's Squier.

MiM are very hit or miss, a friend of mine lucked out on a strat that sounds insanely good, I have an american strat and his sounds almost as good as mine, the only difference is mine has a little bit warmer sound because of the rosewood fingerboard.

anyways what do I know I'm a les paul guy, the best advice I can give you on guitars and amps is to try em beforehand. guitars in general are very hit or miss, regardless of how they're set up.

i had a MIM pbass that was a nice surprise!

it was more punchy, tho i'd rather of had the american one

i have a mim strat from the 80s and i think its sounds  better than the american ones
